74-CCRESOLUTION. '~NO ~ 74 ~ ~ ~ A RESOLUTION'OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY TO DENY THAT CERTAIN APPLICATION FROM A PRIVATE LANDOWNER FOR THE IN THE TOWN OF MANALAPAN. WHEREAS, the public beaches of the State of Florida and of Palm Beach County are unquestionably the finest natural facilities for serving the recreational needs of the many thousands of people living and vacationing in our area; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, in recognizing the above, has consistently sought to preserve the public beaches, and to provide additional lands for recreational beach areas and public access thereto; and WHEREAS, application has been received by the County Commission from a private landowner to abandon a 6~-foOt wide beach access right of way, located immediately south of the La Coquille Club in the Town of Manalapan, now held by the public for the and/or eventual use and benefit of all the people; and W~IEREAS, the public interest would not, in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, be best served by the release of this right of way to private interests. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: That the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County be and is hereby urged to deny the aforesaid application for the abandonment of that certain public right of way ~66~foot width located in the Town of Manalapan, and that the Board be encouraged to continue its diligent efforts in estab- lishing and preserving the public's use of this area's greatest natural asset. Section 2: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution.to the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, Robert F. Culpepper, Chairman. Section 3: That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
