A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING
THE PALM BEACH COUNTY TRANSPORTATION
AUTHORITY TO IMMEDIATELY ESTABLISH A NORTH-
SOUTH ~i~SS TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FOR PALM
BEACH COUNTY IN ORDER TO ALLEVIATE T~{E FUEL
CRISIS.
WHEREAS~ the Palm Beach County Transportation Authority
has heretofore planned for a North-South mass transportation serv
throughout Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, the plans for such transportation service 'have
been postponed because of the present fuel shortage; and
WHEREAS, all North-South highways and streets along the
eastern portion of Palm Beach County are heavily congested with
motor vehicles which require the consumption of great quantities
of fuel; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach,
Florida, feels that the establishment and. operation of a North-
South mass transit system would permit great numbers of commuters
and other travellers to use the bus service in lieu of operating
their own individual motor vehicles, thereby greatly alleviating
the serious fuel shortage which presently exists;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CI.TY COUNCIL (F THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the Palm Beach County Transportation
Authority be and it is hereby requested to take immediate action
to establish, implement and place into operation at the earliest
possible date a North-South mass transportation service in Palm
Beach County, Florida.
Section 2: That the Palm Beach County Transportation
Authority be and is hereby urged to take all appropriate action
to obtain a high priority in order to acquire sufficient fuel
allocations with which to operate the said North-South mass
transportation facilities.
Section 3: That copies of this Resolution be sent-to the
Palm Beach County Transportation Authority, the Board of .County
Commissione'rs~ and to all municipalities in the eastern portion
of Palm BeaCh County.
