AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING ARTICLE IV. PENSIONS FOR
FIREFIGHTERS. SECTION 18 -180. TO PROVIDE
FOR AN AMENDED BENEFIT ACCRUAL RATE;
PROVIDING THAT EACH AND EVERY OTHER PART
OF ARTICLE IV. NOT HEREIN SPECIFICALLY
AMENDED SHALL REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND
EFFECT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS,
SEVERABILITY, CODIFICATION AND AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Fire Pension Board has met and had
considerable discussion pertaining to the benefit accrual
rate contained in Article IV. Section 18 -180; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Pension Board has selected an
additional benefit of increasing the benefit accrual rate
(formula multiplier) from 2.5% to 2.6 %; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, THAT:
Section 1. That Article IV. Section 18 -180 be
mended by adding the words and figures in underlined type
end by deleting the words and figures in struck - through
type, as follows:
Sec. 18 -180. Monthly retirement income.
The amount of monthly retirement
income payable to a firefighter who
retires on or after the firefighter's
normal retirement date shall be an
amount equal to the number of the
firefighter's years of credited service
multiplied by two and one-half six
tenths (2-1/2)- 2.6) per cent of such
firefighter's average final
compensation. If -a- firefighter - has - been
eentributing -en ±y- three - { - 3 - j - per - Bent -of
such---- €irefierhterls - - -- salary; - -- - the
firefighter-Ls-monthly-retirement
shall-be-an-amount-equal
of- years -of- credited service - multiplied

Section 2. That each and every other provision of
Article IV. not herein specifically amended shall remain in
full force and effect.
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby
repealed.
Section 4. Should any sec or p rov i si o n o f this
ordinance or portion hereof, any paragraph, sentence, or
word be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the remainder of
this ordinance.
Section 5. Authority is h ereby gran to codify said
ordinance.
Section 6. This ordinance shall become effective
October 1, 1992.
