71-SRESOLUTION NO. 71 - S WHEREAS, 'there is a need for tax reform at all levels of government in Florida; and WHEREAS, an early vote on the amendment to the Constitituion to permit a tax on corporate profits, regardless of the result of such vote, may assist in arriving at some solution to the tax problems of local govern- ment, as well as the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, there is in addition a pressing need for additional sources of revenue to be utilized for street construction and maintenance at local levels; and WHEREAS, there is now pending before the Florida Legislature proposed legislation providing for an additional one cent (1 ~) gasoline tax, earmarked for utilization by cities for the above purposes; and WHEREAS, it is, in addition, pending before the Florida Legislature proposed legislation imposing a license tax upon salt water fisher- men, which is deemed to be contrary to the best interests of this area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: 1. That the members of the Legislative Delegation from this district are respectfully urged to take the following action: (a) To support a resolution permitting an early vote, as provided by the Constitution, on the proposed amendment to permit a tax on corporate profits. (b) To support enactment of legislation providing for additional one cent (1~) gasoline tax to provide a source earmarked for street construction and maintenance by cities.
