71-RRESOLUTION NO. 71 - R
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida· the Municipal Personnel Officer has heretofore recommended
certain amendments to the current Civil Service Rules and Regulations of
the said City; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has reviewed said recommendatiohs
and has approved same without amendment; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has thoroughly reviewed subject
amendments and deems that the enactment thereof in the best interest of
effective personnel management;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCI~
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the first paragraph of Section 3, Article X and
Section 4(a), Article X of the current Civil Service Rules and Regulations of
the City of Boynton Beach· Florida· be, and the same are hereby, amended
to read:
"Article X, Section 3 - Sick Leave: Each employee in the classified service
shall be allowed a maximum of twelve (12) work days of sick leave per
calendar year. Sick leave shall be granted to employees at the rate of one (1
working day for each month of service and all accumulated sick leave will be
out of a one (1) for one (1) basis. Sick leave shall be computed on a calendar
year basis with no limit as to the total sick leave that can be accumulated;
and as a measure to provide an incentive to employees to accumulate
maximum sick leave· upon termination of employment, employees shall be
paid at the rate of one (1) day for each four (4) days of unused sick leave."
"Article X, Section 4(a) - Death in the Family: (a) In case of death of the
employee's mother, father, foster parents, grandparents, grandchildren,
brothers· sisters, wife, husband, son, daughter, mother-in-law or father-
in-law· the employee shall be allowed up to five days to attend the funeral,
depending upon location and in each case be subject to the approval of the
department head."
The above amendments will be applicable only to municipal employees on the
active payroll roster as of the date of adoption of this Resolution. Effective d~
of no-limit sick leave is hereby established retroactive to August 1, 1962.
Section 2: In all other respects subject Civil Service Rules
and Regulations are hereby ratified and confirmed as adopted.
