71-HRESOLUTION No. 71-H WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida has heretofore provided for the mandatory assessment and collection of municipal taxes by the Palm Beach County Tax Assessor and Tax Collector, respectively, and WHEREAS, after operating under subject system, it is readily apparent that same is not effective and is detrimental to the best interest of the City of Boynton Beach, ]~lorida, in that no economic savings have been realized through reduction of City personnel or equipment, it has been necessary for the City to increase its costs in this regard by paying fees to the County Tax Assessor and County Tax Collector, and the delay in collection and transmittal of municipal taxes by the County Tax Collector has caused a substantial loss of interest income to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: 1. That the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation be requested to sponsor, introduce and promulgate passage of amendatory legislation to existing State law now requiring mandatory assessment and collection of municipal taxes by the County Tax Assessor and County Tax Collector, to provide that said procedure be optional on the part of municipalities rather than mandatory.
