70-YRESOLUTION NO. 70-~r WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, has, for a number of years, recognized the necessity of acquiring additional beach property for public recreational purposes for the benefit of the inhabitants of the said City, and WHEREAS, past experience has indicated thai the existing beach facility owned, operated and maintained within the municipal limits of Ocean Ridge, Florida, has been utilized not only by the inhabitants of the City of Boynton Beach, but also by inhabitants of the Town of Ocean Ridge, Town of Manalapan, City of Delray Beach, Town of Lantana, and by visitors and tourists from other areas of this state and other states, and WHEREAS, the voters of the County of Palm Beach have recently approved expenditure of $6,000, 000 in bond sale revenues for the purpose of acquiring additional beach property for recreational purposes, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, has heretofore negotiated with owners of various parcels located adjacent to and in the immediate vicinity of its existing municipal beach facility and has obtained what it believes to be fair market value purchase prices from the owners of said tracts, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, deems the acquisition of any or all of said tracts to be advantageous to the interests of the County of Palm Beach as a whole, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, recognizes the possibility that in the event additional beach property is not acquired for public use in the South Palm Beach County area, it will be necessary, due to increased population and utilization of their municipally- owned beach facility, to limit such use to residents of the City of Boynton Beach; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, is hereby urgently requested to give immediale consideration lo the purchase of any or all parcels of beach property located adjacent or in the immediate vicinity of the existing municipal beach facility owned, operated and maintained by the Ci~!y of Boynton Beach, Florida, in accordance with offers to purchase attached hereto and hereby made a part hereof, and that the consideralion for such purchase or purchases be paid from receipts of bond sale proceeds heretofor~ authorized by the residents of Palm Beach County, Florida, for such purpose and from any other financial sources available, including Federal grants.
