68-KRESOLUTION NO. 68 - 1<~ ...... WHEREAS, certain legislation recently enacted by the United States Congress, pertaining to taxation of industrial development bonds is considered to generally endanger the continued exemption of municipal bond interest from taxation by Federal authorities, and WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and essential by the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, that opposition to such loss of exemption be expressed, and WHEREAS, certain corrective legislation with regard to this matter has been introduced by Congressman Wilbur D. Mills, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, That the City of Boynton Beach Florida, hereby expresses its support of H. R. 18371 and companion Bill S. 3782, presently under consideration by the United States House of Represent- atives and the United States Senate, respectively, and reasserts its support of the premise that municipal bond interest should continue to be exempt from taxation by Federal or other Governmental authorities; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be furnished to United States Congressman Wilbur D. J~ills, United States Senator Russell Long and all United States Congressmen and United States Senators representing the State of Florida, and to Claude R. Kirk, Jr., Governor of the State of Florida. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of August, A.D. 1968.
