A Special ~dJourned Meeting of the Board of Town 0ommissioners of the Town of J~oynton, Florida, was held at the Town.Hall of the Town of Boynton, l~lorida on Thursday · Morning, August 4th, 1927, at 9:30 o'clock A. M. Present: R. O. Myers, Mayor Har_ry Benmon,Vice-Mayor E. L. Winchester,' Town Clerk The following communications for the a~tention of the Equalization Board was received and read:- "August 3, 1927. Mr. E. L. Winchester, Town Clerk, Boynton, Florida. Dear Mr. Winchester:- On behalf of our client, B. ~' Mitchel, we protest against the following assessmsnts, to-wit: The South 440 fee~ of Gov. Lot 3, Section 27, $26,400. The South 165 feet of Gov. Lot 4, Section S6600. The North two and one-half acres muck lot 37, $12oo. Our protest is based upon the ground that these assessments are out of proportion to the value of the property and upon the further ground that upon the basis of these assessments, these three parcels of land, because they are so remotely situated from the present settled portion of the town, will be called upon to bear taxes which are out of all proportion to any real or fancied benefit tkerefrom. Will you please file this protest and bring the matter to the atten- tion of the council and advise us of their dispostition in the matter. Miller, Inc., were present and presented the following letter for the. attention of the Equalization Board. 'Boynt On, Fla., August 4, 1927. Town Commissioners of the Town of Boynton, Boynton, Fla. Gentlemen: ~ 'We hereby noti~fy you, sitting as a Board:~of Equalizers of the Town of Boynton, that we object to and protest the assess- ment you have made. of Briny Breezes, a'aubdivision to the Town of Boynton, State of Florida for the year 1927, according to the -.plat of maid subdivision on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. in and for Palm Beach County, State of Florida, and each and every lot therein, and our reasons upon which our objectionm are based are' the following, to wit: 1. Said assessment is c~trary to the law~ of ~'lorida. 2. Said assessment is contrary to the Charter of the Town of Boynt on, Fla. 5'. Said assessment ia not uniform. · 4. Said assessment is made upon improper valuations. 5. Said assessment roll ~s void. 6. Said assessment is not based equally ?. Said assessment is not based equally with other properties of like kind. 8. Said assessment is not based equally with other properties of like location. 9. Said assessment is excessive. t0. Said assessment im made without providing any benefits. 11. Said assessment is made far in excess of 192~ assessment without any added valuation. 12. Said assessment is taxation without representation. 13. Said assessment is a means of taking property without due provess of law. 1~. Said assessment is contrary to the method of proper taxation. 15.
