62-KKRESOLUTION NO. 62-KK
WHEREAS~ the TOWN OF OCEAN RIDGE~ FLORIDA~ abuts and
is contiguous to the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORIDA~ and the
said TOWN OF OCEAN RIDGE is separated from the CITY OF DELRAY
BEACH~ FLORIDA by an area of county land and the municipality of
GULFSTREAM; and
WHEREAS~ the United States Post Office Department has
recently authorized the postal department of the CITY OF DELRAY
BEACH~ FLORIDA~ to include the TOWN OF 0CERN RIDGE within its
postal service delivery area; and
WHEREAS~ the postal department of the CITY OF BOYNTON
BEACH~ possesses adequate physical facilities and man power to
properly and feasibly serve the above described area~ being in
much closer proximity thereto; and
WHEREAS~ it is deemed extremely detrimental to the
progress and growth of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH and its local
postal department to deprive said facility of the additional
postal receipts and bulk volume to be realized by serving the
adjacent Ocean Ridge area~ and it is further deemed evident that
the Boynton Beach postal department is in a position to more
conveniently serve subject area~
NOW~ THEREFORE~ be it resolved by the CITY COUNCIL
OF THE 'CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORIDA:
1. That strenuous objection is hereby made to the
inclusion of the TOWN OF 0CERN RIDGE within the
postal service area of the CITY OF DELRAY BEACH~
FLORIDA~ based upon the facts hereinabove set
forth.
2. That the United States Post Office Department is
hereby urged to re-evaluate this entire situation
toward the end of re-districting subject Ocean
Ridge Area within the postal service area of the
Post Office Department of the CITY OF BOYNTON
BEACH~ FLORIDA.
3. That copies of this resolution be furnished to the
United States Post Office Department~ Senator
Spessard L. Holland~ Senator George A. Smathers
and Congressman Paul G. Rogers.
