RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, is greatly concerned over the inadequacy of the present bridge on
State Road #804 over the Intra-coastal Waterway because it is the only road
for convenient access between the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH and the TOWN
OF OCEAN RIDGE; and
WHEREAS, said bridge is often inoperative, and residents of
the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH have to travel from 9 io l0 miles out of their
way to use either the bridge at Lantana or the 8th Street bridge at Delray
Beach to get to Ocean Ridge and return; and
WHEREAS, during the anticipated widening of Slate Road #804
(work to start on or about April 1962), there is a possibility of the present
bridge on State Road #804 being oul-of-operation for as long as one year; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, feels it essential lhal an addilional bridge over lhe Inira-coaslal
Walerway be consirucled;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, memorialize the proper slate, county and
Federal authorities lo lhe effecl that serious consideration be given lheir
request for an additional bridge over the Inira-coastal Walerway between
lhe mainland and lhe beach area he re inabove described ~d that the inieresied
neighboring municipalities be nol~ied lo this effect and that lhey be asked lo
coop erate in this project by adopling supporting resolutions and forwarding
to the same agencies.
