Minutes 02-12-98 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION MEETING HELD IN CONFERENCE ROOM C, WEST WING, CITY HALL BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1998 AT 6:30 P.M. PRESENT Gerald "Jerry" Taylor, Mayor Jamie Titcomb, Vice Mayor Matt Bradley, Commissioner Henderson Tillman, Commissioner Kerry Willis, City Manager Mike Pawelczyk, Assr. City Attorney Sue Kruse, City Clerk CALLTO ORDER Mayor Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:35 PM announcing in accordance with Section 56 of the City Charter, this is a Special City Commission Meeting to discuss the March 10, 1998 General Election. RECEIPT OF CANDIDATES' NOMINATING PETITIONS The City Clerk submitted the names of the six candidates and advised that all have sworn under oath that they are duly qualified to hold office, filed a certified nominating petition with 25 signatures, paid the city and state fees, and have been certified by the Supervisor of Elections as a registered voter in Boynton Beach. Vice Mayor Titcomb moved to accept, seconded by Commissioner Bradley. Motion carried 4-0. GENERAL ELECTION PROCLAMATION Mayor Taylor reviewed the proclamation and ascertained that nobody desired to have it read in its entirety. Vice Mayor Titcomb moved to insert this into the record, seconded by Commissioner Tillman. Motion carried 4-0. PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO. R98-29 RE: APPOINTMENT OF PALM BEACH COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS Mr: Pawelczyk read proposed Resolution NO. R98-29 by title only: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, APPOINTING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS TO HANDLE AND CANVAS ALL CITY ABSENTEE BELLOTS FOR THE MARCH 10, 1998, GENERAL ELECTION; REPRESENT THE MUNICIPAL CANVASSING BOARD AT ALL LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTS, AND CERTIFY ELECTION RESULTS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO NOTIFY THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OF :HER APPOINTMENT, Vice Mayor Titcomb moved to adopt, seconded by Commissioner Bradley. Motion carried 4-0. APPROVAL OF ELECTION POLL WORKERS The attached list was submitted to the City Commission. Vice Mayor Titcomb moved to approve, seconded by Commissioner Bradley. Motion carried 4-0.
