A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING
THE REASSIGNMENT OF GALAXY ELEMENTARY
AND FOREST PARK ELEMENTARY TO AREA 2
ADMINISTRATIVE AREA OF THE PALM BEACH
COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT; DIRECTING THE CITY
CLERK TO FORWARD A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE SCHOOL BOARD OF PALM
BEACH COUNTY AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF
SCHOOLS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the city schools of Boynton Beach are split between two
areas and interaction is separate due to the fact that each area administrator has
their own thought processes and procedures; and
WHEREAS, there would be better interaction with the same teachers
in the same area, and articulation would improve between the elementary, middle
and high schools by having all the same administrative area; and
WHEREAS, the School Board of Palm Beach County looks at the
schools as a whole, while the City of Boynton Beach looks at the schools served by
the City as a unit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Each Whereas clause set forth above is true and correct and
incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida
does hereby strongly supports the reassignment of Galaxy Elementary and Forest
Park Elementary to Area 2 Administrative Area of the Palm Beach County Schools.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this
Resolution to the School Board and Superintendent of Schools of Palm Beach
County.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
passage.
