A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
ACCEPT AND. EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETVVEEN
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA AND THE
BUREAU OF JUSTICE, LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
BLOCK GRANTS PROGRAM TO ACCEPT A GRANT IN
THE AMOUNT OF $139,692.00; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach Police Department applied for and
has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice for equipment and
technology; and
WHEREAS, on June 30, 1998 the City received notification that we were
eligible for a direct award of $139,692.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach Police will need to provide a
matching fund; and
WHEREAS, the Block Grant has a two-prong requirement to present the
proposed allocation of funds awarded before an Advisory Board, and hold a Public
Hearing to facilitate public input into allocation of funds; and
WHEREAS, the City needs to hold a public hearing, which can be part of the
regular City Commission Meeting, for input from the public for their comments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach hereby
authorizes and directs the Mayor and City Clerk to accept and execute the
agreement between the City of Boynton Beach and the Bureau of Justice, Local

Law Enforcement Block Grants Program to accept a grant in the amount of
$139,692.00 and to serve as the City's Local Match. A copy of the agreement is
attached hereto as Exhibit "A."
