AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 18 PENSIONS AND
RETIREMENT, ARTICLE IV PENSIONS FOR
FIREMEN; BY PROVIDING FOR THE SEX
NEUTRAL IDENTIfiCATION OF THE PROFESSION
FIREFIGH~ERS; AUTHORIZING' THE

REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT AS
PREVIOUSLY ENACTED; PROVIDING A
CONFLICTS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING AUTHORITY
TO CODIFY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
NOW, T~RREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That Chapter 18 Pensions and Retirement,
Article IV Pensions for Firemen is hereby amended by deleting
all references in said article to the term "firemen" and
replacing with the new term "firefighter".
Section 2. That the Municipal Code Corporation is
hereby directed to make said changes in Article IV Pensions
for Firemen by removing all references to "firemen" and
replacing said reference with the term "firefighter".
Section 3. Each and every other provision of Chapter
18 not specifically amended herein shall~ remain in. f~tl force
and effect as previously enacted.
Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 5. Should any section or provision of this
ordinance or portion hereof, any paragraph, sentence or word
be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the remainder of this
ordinance.
