O94-16ORDINANCE NO. O94-,/~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2. ADMINISTRATION, ARTICLE VIII. EDUCATION ADVISORY BOARD, SUBSECTIONS 2- 129.(a) AND (d); PROVIDING THAT ALL TERMS SHALL EXPIRE IN THE MONTH OF APRIL; CHANGING THE ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING FROM JULY TO MAY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, CODIFICATION AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Boynton Beach to amend Section 129.(a)and (d) to reflect that all terms shall expire in the month of April, and changing the annual organization meeting from July to May. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. That Chapter 2. Administration, Article VIII. Education Advisory Board. subsection 2-129 Organization. shall be amended by adding the words and figures in underlined type and by deleting the words and figures in struck-through type, as follows: Sec. 2-129. Organization. (a) The education advisory board shall comprise seven (7) permanent members and two (2) alternate members, all to be appointed by the city commission. Of the members so appointed, four (4) shall be for a term of three (3) years, three (3) shall be for a term of two (2) years. Their successors shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years. Alternate members shall be appointed for a period of one (1) year. There shall also be appointed two (2) high school seniors, who must reside within the City limits of the City of Boynton Beach and who must attend a public school in Palm Beach County to serve for a term of one (1) year, to be selected by the City Commission. All terms shall exoire in the month of A_Dril (d) At the organizational meeting of the board a chairperson and vice-chairperson shall be selected by majority vote of the board. The chairperson and vice- chairperson shall be selected annually at the ~ May meeting of the board. hereby repealed. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are Section 3. Should any section or provision of this ordinance or any portion thereof be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance. Section 4. Section 5, Authority is hereby given to codify this Ordinance. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage. FIRST READING this ~' day of June, 1994.
