THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CITY EMPLOYEES ONLY
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this position is to assist in supervising, the Customer Billing, Meter Reading, Collections and the Copy, Printing and Mailing
operations of the Utilities Customer Service Division.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the
classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, process employee concerns and problems, direct work, counseling, disciplining, and prepares
employee evaluations fanns for approval of supervisor. -Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; consults
with assigned statT, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise. -Supervises and assists operations within the
Customer Service Division, which includes customer billing, meter reading, collections, copy, printing and mailing operations; respond to meter
reading issues and prioritizes workload of the division to accomplish goals and objectives. Coordinates and supervises activities that include
meter reading, billing and collection schedules; utility service connections and disconnections as appropriate; process shut-off for non-payment
work orders, process returned checks, resolving customer complaints; responding to customer inquiries; schedules/conducts interviews and
makes hiring recommendations; provides budgetary input and recommendations; preparing related memos and correspondence, etc. for other
areas. . Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, weekly/monthly reports, payroll documents, purchases requisitions, fuel
reports, accident reports, incident report, audit reports, and other documents. _Receives various fonns, reports, correspondence, invoices, time
sheets, policies, procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentations; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains, as
appropriate. .Operates a variety of machinery, equipment and tools associated with meter reading activities which may include, radio
communications equipment, mainframe computer, handheld computer unit, touch-read mini-reader, water meter, meter stick, probe rod, meter
wrench, meter lock; enter, retrieve, review or modifY data in a computer; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other divisional
job related software programs; such as, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Auto View, Auto Read, H.T.E., Gismo, LaserFiche, Demand Star,
Sensus and Internet browsers. Other duties are assigned.
EDUCATION AND JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in business administration or accounting; or
supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training that includes utility billing; meter reading, collections, call center
operations, and/or related customer service, billing and collections work, and meter reading. Training in Confined Space and Class "8"
Certification in Water Distribution is preferred.
STARTING SALARY
$20.6 J hr with excellent benefits.
