A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING A NEW JOB TITLE KNOWN AS "CITIZEN ACTION CENTER COORDINATOR" IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER: APPROVNG THE NEW JOB DESCRIPTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, upon recommendation of staff, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach has deemed that the needs of the public will be better served by the creation of a new job title known as "Citizen Action Center Coordinator", in the office of the City Managen NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida does hereby create and establish a new job title known as "Citizen Action Center Coordinator", at a pay grade of 27, with the job description for said position being attached hereto as Exhibit "A"~ Section 2. passage. V,i~"e Mp, C~r ~' //~ Commissioffer C~y Clbrk - - (Corporate Sea ) Commissioner CITIZEN ACTION CENTER COORDINATOR Nature of Work: This is responsible and specialized secretarial and para-professional work assisting a division or department head in the administrative and operational activities of the department. An employee in this class is responsible for relieving the supervisor of routine operational and administrative details and tasks. The employee is. responsible for the coordination of the Citizen Action Center, and providing support to the Public Information, City Commission and Neighborhood Project Specialist Offices. Work requires the exercise of mature judgment and the: application of knowledge of business or municipal organizations, their operational procedures and limitations. General and specific assignments are received with considerable latitude for the use of independent judgement. Supervision and training of subordinate secretarial and clerical help may be reqUired. Answers: telephones to screen and transfer calls and records messages; relays routine to complex information to callers; refers inquiries to other sources/departments/agencies when appropriate. Maintains current information of citywide policies and programs, and processes routine matters accordingly. Acts as liaison between administration and the public; interprets administrative policy and decisions as explained and directed. Assigns, directs, and reviews work of clerical and secretarial workers; conducts performance appraisals. Works cooperatively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors to accomplish work effectively and efficiently; provides assistance and back up; and creates a positive and professional impression in dealing with the general public. Works bffectively under pressure conditions such as heavy workloads or deadlineS, situations; productivity remains consistent with given conditions; errors do not become more frequent; learns and adjusts well to new methods, conditions and changes. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Receives and logs concerns from citizens into computer database; assigns concern to appropriate department or entity and follow through to completion. Notifies citizen or appropriate party within specified time frame of status or resolution of concern. Tracks concems by type, department, address, commission district, etc. Prepares reports identifying all citizen concerns or specific areas. Gathers and assembles information for citywide and employee newsletter. Oversees and assembles all production elements of newsletters. 2 Citizen Action Ctr. Coord. Edits and transmits all press releases. Provides clerical support to Neighborhood Project Division and City Commission as needed. Education and Job Related Experience: High School diploma/ GED, relevant college coursework (Associate Degree preferred); over three (3) years job related experience; must be computer literate (word processing, desktop publishing and presentations); or any equivalent combination of training and experience that meets the position requirements. Minimum reasoning ability usually associated with this classification: Ability to app y principles of logical or. sCientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form. Deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Minimum math ability usually associated with this classification: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; to perform .the four operations with like or common decimal fractions; to perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units. Minimum language ability usually associated with this classification: Read: Ability to read a variety of novels, magazines, atlases, and encyclopedias; to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of office supplies and equipment. Write: Ability to write reports and essays with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Speak: Ability to speak before others, with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English and well-modulated voice.
