A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE
ACTION OF THE CiTY MANAGER IN ACQUIRING A 4GB
DIRECT ACCESS STORAGE DEVICE (DASD) ON AN
EMERGENCY BASIS FOR THE IBM/AS 400 COMPUTER;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, dudng the week of December 9, 1996, City staff discovered that the
hard disk storage of the City's computer system was dangerously close to capacity; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that should the hard disk storage reach
total capacity, the computer system could "crash," rendering the computer system
useless and destroying all information in computer storage; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is authorized under Section 56.1 of the City of
Boynton Beach Code of Ordinances to acquire such equipment on an immediate basis
should the time required for competitive bidding be detrimental to the City's interests.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that the City Manager acted
in an emergency situation to prevent a city-wide computer system "crash" by
purchasing/leasing additional hard disk storage space from CH,~a~TON CO~UTE~S; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it to be in the best interests of the
residents and citizens of the City of Boynton Beach to purchase/lease of a 4gb Direct
Access Storage Device for the IBM/AS 400 Computer to preserve the vast amount of
information stored in the City's computer system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Each Whereas clause set forth above is true and correct and
incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida does
hereby ratify the emergency action of the City Manager to purchase/lease a 4gb Direct
Access Storage Device (DASD) for the IBM/AS 400 Computer from c~A~o~ CO~U, TE~S
or said receipt for purchase/lease being attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
passage.
