AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA AMENDING
CHAPTER 2. ADMINISTRATION, ARTICLE VIII.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD,
SUBSECTION 2-117, DUTIES. PROVIDING FOR
CLARIFICATION AND EXPANSION OF THE SCOPE OF
DUTIES OF SAID BOARD; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY, CODIFICATION AND AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Commission has determined that it is in the best
interest of the general welfare of the citizens and residents of the City of Boynton
Beach to provide clarification and an expansion of the scope of duties to the
members of the Children and Youth Advisory Board; and provide that five
members shall constitute a quorum on the Children and Youth Advisory Board
and;
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida, to amend Chapter 2. Administration, Article VIII. Children and
Youth Advisory Board. Subsection 2-117, Duties. to provide for clarification and
an expansion of the scope of the duties of the members of the Children and
Youth Advisory Board and;
NOW THEREFORE, BE I'T ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORI'DA, THAT:
Section 1. That Chapter 2. Administration, Article VIII Children and
Youth Advisory Board, Subsection 2-117 is hereby amended by adding the
words and figures in underlined type and deleting the figures in struck-through

type as follows:
Sec. 2-117. Duties.
The children and youth advisory board shall act as a fact-finding
and advisory board on the following issues and on such other issues as are, from
time to time, designated by the city commission by resolution:
Development of proqrams that promote onqoinq
relationships with caring adults.
(2)
Formulation of long and short range programming to benefit
the children and youth of the community by involvinq
parents, the business community,~ civic and
neighborhood organizations.
(3)
Development of incentives and enhancements which would
encourage the development of new ~"~ ~'~'~

places and structured activities in non-school hours.
(4)
]:dentification of and dissemination of information on
local, county, state and federal programs that provide
beneficial services to children and their families.
(5) Development of a child and youth advocacy programs.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section 3. Should any section or provision of this ordinance or any
)ortion thereof be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid,
;uch decision shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance.
Section 4. Authority is hereby given to codify this Ordinance.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
