A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
ACKNOWLEDGING AND SUPPORTING THE WEST
BOYNTON AREA COMMUNITY PLAN AS A POLICY
GUIDE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Policy 8-A of the Land Use Element of the 1989
Palm Beach County Comprehensive Plan provides the County
develop a program for allowing consideration of neighborhood
plans; and
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach previously entered
into an Interlocal Agreement with Palm Beach County to thereby
facilitate cooperative interaction between the County and the
City with respect to future planning of the area west of the
City; and
WHEREAS, a community study group was created to draft the
West Boynton Area CO~L¢~Lunity Plan, between March 1992 and July,
1995, with the public invited to each Committee meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Planning, Zoning and
Building Department provided a facilitator to the community
study group to lead the community study group and held a
series of monthly and weekly meetings to discuss and review
plans; and
WHEREAS, a final community meeting was held In January
1995, to present the plan as revised by the community study
group to the community, where it was generally accepted and
revised; and '~
WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is
appropriate to acknowledge and support the community plan as
a policy guide upon which to review development proposals and
comprehensive plan amendment requests, within the west Boynton
a r e a ~ ....
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
~ The City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida does hereby acknowledge and support the West
Boynton Area Community Plan, attached hereto as Exhibit A, as
a policy guide for use in the review of the development
proposals and comprehensive plan amendment requests for the
west Boynton area.
~ That this Resolution shall become
effective immediately.
