AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING
CHAPTER 21 SIGNS, SECTION 21-14, BY ADDING
A NEW SECTION "f" REGULATING VEHICULAR SIGNS;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES, PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE; PROVIDING AUTHORITY TO CODIFY;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
NOW, THEP~FORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1.
That Chapter 21, Signs generally, Section 21-14,
Signs, Sign Structures Prohibited, is hereby amended to read as
follows:
..."(f) Signs which involve motion or
rotation of any part of the structure or
disPlay, except horizontal or substantially
horizontal rotation of three hundred sixty
(360) degrees and not exceeding eight (8)
rpm. The rotation element of such signs shall
clear nine (9) feet from ground level (minimum).
Where vehicular traffic is affected, such
clearance shall be increased to fourteen and
one-half (14-1/2) feet. Signs containing
intermittent or flashing lights or animation
with the exception of a time and/or temperature
unit which is part of a sign permitted in
business or industrial areas." It shall
be unlawful to ~on~inuous~ly..park, in excess
of two ('2) hours, in the same parking space,
any automobile or other vehicle with a
vehicular sign, as defined in Section 21-3
of the eXistin~ Boynton Beach Code, upon the
street, public or private parking lot, public
way or pl'ace within the City.
Section 2.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith being the same are hereby repealed.
Section 3.
That any section or provision of this ordinance
or any portion thereof, any paragraph, sentence or word be
declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid,
such decision shall not affect the validity or remainder hereof
as a whole or any part hereof other than the part delcared to be
invalid.
Section 4.
Specific authority is hereby granted to codify this
ordinance.
'Section 5.
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
its passage.
