AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 2-16. CITY BOARDS AND
COMMISSIONS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR
APPOINTMENT, MEMBERSHIP, BY CREATING A
NEW SUBSECTION(F), PROVIDING FOR
ADOPTION OF A BOARD ABSENTEE POLICY;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY,
CODIFICATION AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
W~EREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has determined that
it is necessary to clarify the Code of Ordinances by
adoption of a board absentee policy for all boards, with the
exception of the Planning and Development Board; and
W~EREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach deems it to be in the best interests of public to
clarify the Code to set forth and adopt proper procedure for
board absences ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COb~4ISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 2-16 of the Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended by adding the words and figures
in underlined type, as follows:
(F) When a member of any Board, with the exception of
the Planning and Development Board, has missed three (3)
regular monthly meetings for any reason within one ~ual
board term. that member will be notified that one additional
absence will cause his/her board, m~mBership to be terminated
and a replacement will be appointed at the time of the next
absence.
Section 2. Ail ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Should any section or provision of this
ordinance or portion hereof, any paragraph, sentence or word
be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the remainder of
this ordinance.
