O82-04ORDINANCE 82- ~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 5-16 OF THE CODIFIED ORDIb/ANCES OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, BY ADOPTING THE UNIFORM, MINIMUM COUNTYWIDE AMENDMENT TO THE 1981 EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE; PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PRO- VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Uniform, Minimum Countywide Amendment to the National Electrical Code, 1981 Edition, as recommended by the Palm Beach County Building Code Advisory Board, a copy of which is attached hereto and by reference made a part hereof, be adopted for the city of Boynton Beach, Florida, and that Section 5-16 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, therefore, be amended to read as follows: "Section 5-16. Code adopted. The National Electrical Code, 1981 Edition, together with uniform minimum Palm Beach county- wide amendments thereto, copies of which are now on file in the office of the Building Official of the City, is hereby adopted and established as the standard by which electrical work shall be done in the City. All work done under this article shall comply with such standards unless a different requirement appears herein." Section 2. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 3. That should any section or provision of this Ordinance, or any portion thereof, be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not effect the remainder of this Ordinance. Section 4. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage. Seal) Page 2 of 2 MINIMUM COUNTYWIDE AMENDMENT TO THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1981 EDITION AS RECO~VaViENDED BY THE PALM BEACH COUNTY BUILDING CODE ADVISORY BOARD ARTICLE 80 - NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE 1981 EDITION - IS CREATED TO READ: ARTICLE 80 - ADMINISTRATION SECTION 80-1 - TITLE AND SCOPE 80-1 (a) Title The provisions embraced within the following chapters and sections shall constitute and be known and cited as "Electrical Code" 80.1 (b) Code Remedial This code is hereby declared to be remedial and shall be construed to secure 'the beneficial interest and purposes thereof, which are health, sanitation, general public safety and welfare; by regulating installation and maintenance of all electrical equipment. 80.1 (c) Scope · The provisions of this code shall apply to the installation of electrical systems, including alterations, repairs, replacement, equipment,' appliances, fixtures, fittings and/or appurtenances, thereto. By nothing contained in this section or elsewhere in this code is it to be construed that a permit shall be required under this code for any work involved in the erection, installation, repairing, remodeling and maintenance of elevators, dumbwaiters and moving stairways. Such exception shall not, however, extend to work on conductors and equipment for supplying power to the control panels of eac~ elevator, dumbwaiter or moving stairway. , 80.1 (d) Maintenance All electrical systems, both existing and new, and all parts thereof, shall be maintained in a safe condition. All devices or safeguards which are required by this co~e shall be r~aintained in good working order. The maintenance of electrical systems shall be the responsibility of the owner or their designated agent. 80.1 (e) Service Equ~ipment It shall be unlawful for any person to disconnect, alter or tamper with any service equipment; such as service drop, conductors, meters or protective devices owned by a municipal, county or state agency; a company or corporation holding a franchise for electrical current for light, heat and power in the county, except duly authorized agents, licensees or employees of such company or corporation. 80.1 (f) Definitions Industrial Plant Electrical Maintenance Supervisor. A person regularly employed in an industrial plant to perform electrical work solely on behalf of their employer and only upon the premises of their employer's industrial plant, qualified by training and technical know- ledge to plan, lay-out and supervise electrical work permitted to be done under annual industrial permits. Must be certified as a Master Electrician or an Electrical Contractor. Industrial Plant Maintenance Elec~~rician- A person regularly em- ployed in an ~ndustrial plant go per{orm electrical work solely on behalf of their employer and upon the premises of their employer's'in- dustrial plant and under the supervision of an industrial plant electri- cal maintenance supervisor. Must be a journeyman electrician. Electrician. Is a person who is engaged in the electrical trade or ~usiness and who is qualified under the terms and Drovisions of this code. Electrician Apprentice . Is a person who is engaged in learning the electrical trade by working with and under the supervision of a journey- man electrician who holds a valid certificate of competency and who shall be held responsible for the work of such apprentice. Journeyman Electrician. Is a person qualified by exoerience and/or education to perform work in the electrica~trade. Must be certified by the Palm Beach County Construction Industry Licensing Board. Maintenance Electrician. A person who possesses the Oualifications prescribed in this Section for a "journeyman electrician", but who must be regularly employed to maintain and make minor repairs to the electri- cal.wiring, apparatus and equipment, which is installed, contained, and used upon premises or in the buildings, owned, occupied, or controlled by the person by whom the maintenance electrician is employed. Master Electrician. A person who possesses the necessary ~ualifica- tions, training, and technical knowledge to plan, lay-out and supervise the installation of electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment for light, heat, or power, as covered by the terms and provisions of this Article. 2 Section 80-.2 - ORGANIZATION S0.2 (a) Electrical Inspection Division There is hereby established a division to be called the Electrical Inspection Division, with the Building Department which shall be in the charge of the Official so legally designated by the local governing body. 80.2 (b) Inspectors The Building Official with-the approval of the Chief Appointing Authority, may appoint such number of officers, inspectors, assistants and other employees as shall be authorized from time to time. No person shall be appointed as inspector of electrical systems who has not had a least five (5) years experience as an electrical inspector, master electrician, journeyman electrician, engineer, or as a suDerin- ~endant, or foreman in charge of electrical constructions. The inspec- tor appointed shall be certified within twelve (12) months of appoint- ment by the Building Officials Association of Florida. 80.2 (c) Restriction on Employees An'officer or employee connected with the department, except one whose only connection is as a member o'f the board established by this code, shall not be financially interested in the furnishing of labor, material or appliances for the construction, alteration, or maintenance of elec- trical installations or in the making of plans or of specifications; unless they are the owner of such building. Such officer or employee shall not engage in any work which is inconsistent with their duties or with the interest of the department. 80.2 (d) Board of Adjustments and Appeals .The Board of Adjustments and Appeals, as established by Section III of the Standard BUilding Code, ~hal] ]]ear ali appeals concerning the interpretatJ~on and enforcement of this code. SECTION 80-3 - POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR 80.3 (a) Right of Entry The Building Official shall enforce the provisions of this code and may enter any building, structure, or premises to perform any duty r..~imposed by this code. 3 80.3 (b) Stop Work Orders , Upon notice from the Building Official that work on any electrical installation that is being done contrary to the provisions of this code or in a dangerous or unsafe manner, shall be stopped immediately. Such notice shall be in writing, stating the reason therefore, an~ shall be given to the owner of such property or to their agent, or the person doing the work, and shall state the conditions un,er which the work may be resumed. Where any emergency exists, oral notice given by the Building Official shall be sufficient followed by notice in writing within forty-eight (48)'hOurs. 80.3 (c) Revocation of Permits The Building Official may revoke a permit or approval issued under the provisions of this act in case there has been any false statement .~f misrepresentations as to the material fact in the application or plans on which the permit or approval was based. In all cases permit fees shall not be refunded. 80.3 (d) Unsafe Installations All electrical installations, regardless of type, which constitute an undue hazard to human life, health or welfare are hereby declared illegal and shall be abated by repair and rehabilitation or by demolition in accordance with the procedure as outlined in Section 103.4 - Unsafe Buildings, of the Standard Building Code.° 80.3 (e) Requiremsnt No% ~/overed by Code Any requirement necessary for t]~e safety, strength or stability of an existing or proposed electrical installation, or for the safety the occupants of a building or structure, not specifically covered by this code, shall be determin~d by the Electrical Inspector, s~bject to the approval of the Bu~ lding Official. 80.3 (f) Alternate Materials and A]ternate Methods of Installations Alternate materials and alternate methods of installations shall be approved in accordance with this Section by the Building Official. See Section 103.6 of the Standard Building Code for Product Control require- ments. 4 80.3 (g) Existing Premises , In existing buildings or premises in which electrical installations are to be altered, repaired or renovated, the Buildin~ Official has discretionary power to permit deviation from the provisions of this Code, provided that suCh a proposal to deviate is first submitted for proper determination in order that health and safety requirements, as they pertain to electrical installations,shall be observed. 80.3 (h) Evidence of Compliance ?he Building Official shall require sufficient evidence to enable a judgement as to whether proposed alternate meets the requirements of ~-~ this code for safety and health. 80.3 (i) Tests When there is sufficient evidence to substantiate claims for alter- nates,~ the Building Official may require tests of compliance as proof to be made by an approved agency at the expense of the applicant. Tests shall be made in accordance with generally recognized standards; however, f~ in the absence of such standards, the Building Official shall speci%y the test procedure. Tests may be required to be repeated, if at any time, there is reason ..... to believe that an alternate no longer conforms to the reau~rements on which its approval was based. 80.3 (j) Liability - Any officer or e]nL, l~y~e, or member of any board, charged with the enforcement of this code, acting for the governing body in the discharge of their duties, shali not thereby render themselves liabie personally ~ and they are hereby relieved from all personal liability for any damage that may occur to persons or property as a result of any act required or permitted in the dJ. schar~e of their duties. Any su~t brought against r~nY officer or employee because of such act performed by the~q in the enforcement of any provision of th~s code, shall be defended by the ~agency until the final termination o~ the proceedings. ~ny suit brought against any former employee of an agency for actions, said employee may ~have taken in the discharge of_their duties while employed by said agency, will be defended by the agency. 5 SECTION 80-4 - APPLICATION FOR PERM. IT 80.4 (a) When Required A person, firm, or corporation shall not do or cause to be done, any installations, alterations, repairs or replacement of equipment or systems covered by the provisions of this Code, without first having Obtained the proper permit from the Building Official. 80.4 (b) Annual Industrial Permits (1) Upon written request to the ~uilding Official, any industrial plant shall be issued an annual permit for electrical work, but only to the extent of permitting reasonable alter.ations, additions or exten- sions to existing installations of wiring apparatus or equipment in- stalled, contained,or used upon premises or in buildings owned or occu- pied by the person to whom such an annual industrial permit is issued. ~uch alterations, additions or extensions must be of a minor character and shall be confined to any existing branch circuits and fixtures, apparatus or equipment connected thereto, but shall not include the installation or replacement of service conductors, service equipment or subfeed circuits up to the final center of distribution. No altera- tions, additions or extensions shall be made which would place an overload upon the service conductors,, subfeed or branchfeed service conductors, or overload the protective devices through which electrical energy is applied. (2) The l~aylnent of an annual fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each calendar year, and permit fees computed monthly according to the fee schedule in Section 80-7. (3) The regular employment of one or more full time electrician, competent in the saf6 installation, extension, maintenance and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment, as required by Section $0-1. (4) The richt of the Building Official to check the ~remises of the permit holder at a reasonable time, Unless prohibited by government regulations. (5) The performance of all work shall comply with the applicable provisions of this code. 6 80.4 (c) Form , Each application for a permit with the required fee shall be filed with the Building Official on a form furnished for that purpose, and shall contain a general description of the proposed work and its location. The application shall be signed by the owner or their authorized agent. 80.4 Id) Drawings and Specifications Two (2) sets of plans and specifications, with a complete description of all proposed electrical work, shall be submitted to the Building Official at the same time application is made for a building permit, if any. The plans must be legibly drawn or printed to a definite scale, one floor plan being sufficient if it can be made to show all the propo- sed electrical work; otherwise, two (2) or more plans shall be submitted. The plans shall denote calculations for total connected load, the total floor area, the square feet of the building under consideration, the point to which the service connection is to be made, the size of service and subfeed wires, the location of service switches and center of distribution, and the arrangement of circuits showing the number of outlets connected thereto. The plans~, if found in order, must be stamped "approved" by the Building Official or a duly authorized assistant, prior to the electrical permit being obtained, and before any electrical work can be commenced. Copies of all blueprints and drawings of this nature must be filed in the Building Department for safekeeping and future reference, if required. The installation of the wiring, apparatus or equipment for light, heat or power within or attached to any building or premise, whether for private or public use, must be accomplished strictly in. accordance w~th the plans and specifications submitted. Any changes or omissions in the wiring system shown on the plans, must first be approved by the Building Official and such approval noted in writing. All draw- ings and specifications and accompanying data shall bear the name, signature and address of the designer. In the case of buildings or structures, of Group E, ~ and A occupancy, all other buildings or structures, enlargement or alteration of any building or structures ex- ceeding $5,000.00 in value and structu~ral changes of these buildings and structures, except one (1) and two (2) family dwellings. Any building upon any farm for the use of any farmer, shall be an architect or engineer legally registered under the laws of the State of Florida, regulating the practice of Architecture and Engineering, and shall fix their official seal and signature and the date to said drawings, specifications and accompanying data. In every case, without exception, where service necessitated for' the work equal or exceeding four hundred (400) amperes or ninety two (92) KVA, then the electrical ?~drawings and specifications and design data shall also be prepared, Signed, sealed and dated by a Florida r~egistered architect or engineer. No building permit will be issued for any building or structure under '~he jurisdiction of the division of the Hotel and Restaurant Commission until said plans and specifications have been approved by said ...... commi s s i on. {0.~ (e) Examination of Drawings The Building Official shall examine or cause to be examined each application for a permit and the drawings and specifications which may e filed therewith, and shall ascertain by such examination whether the installation indicated and described is in accordance with the require- ments of this code and all other pertinent laws or ordinances. ~CTION 80-5 PERMITS 80-5 (a) Action on Application (1) If the Building Official Js satisfied that the work described n an application for permit and the drawings and specifications may be filed therewith conform to the requirements of this code and ~.~..~ther pertinent laws and ordinances, a per~it shall be issued to the applicant. (2) If the application for permit and_ the drawings and specifications ~ich may be filed therewith describe work which does no~ conform to the requirements of this code or other pertinent laws or ordinances, the ~uilding Official shall not issue a permit but shall return the drawings the applicant with the refusal to issue such a permit. Such refusal ~-~nall, when requested, be by letter and shall contain the reasons there- fore. 8 80-5 (b) Conditions of the Permit The Building Official shall act upon an application for a permit u~- with plans as filed, or as amended, without reasonable or unnecessary delay. A permit issued shall be construed to be a license to proceed with the work and shall not be construed as authority to violate, cancel, alter or set aside any of the provisions of this code, nor shall such issuance of a permit prevent the Building Official from thereafter ...... requiring a correction of errors in plans or in construction, or of violations of this code. Permits may be issued subject to either of the followin~ conditions: (1) Every permit issued shall become null and void unless the work authorized by such permit is commenced within ninety (90) days after its issuance, or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or a~andoned for a period of ninety (90) days after the time the work is commenced. (2) Prior to issuing the permit, the Building Official and the applicant may establish a maximum time schedule for completion of logical phas'es of construction un~er the permit. Such schedule shall take into effect historical data of the governmental agency for construc- of similar structures within the limits of the agency. Failure of permit holder to pursue construction under the permit in accordance with the maximum time schedule shall be prima facie evidence that the bu~lding project has not been commenced, or has been suspended or aban- doned. Such prima facie evidence shall be in addition to any other evidence that construction under the permit has been commenced or has r~'~been suspended or a],a]~doned under the permit.. Should the L. ermit for any reason become null ~%d void prior to the work being commenced, it may be subsequently commenced or recomm- enced and a new ~ermit shall be obtained. A null and void permit may be renewed for a prorate~ amount of the original fee, prov~ed the proposed work conforms with all requirements, ordinances, rules and regulations effective at the t~me of such renewal. In every case, a courtesy notice shall be mailed by the Buildin~ Official to the permit holder advising'that said ~ermit is null and void. 9 A journeyman or master electrician shall actively supervise on the site electrical work. 80.5 (c) Qualifications of Applicant Application for permits will be accepted only from contractors currently licensed in their respective field and for whom no revocation or suspension of license is existing except that a sole owner may make application for permit and perform the work in connection with the construction, maintenance, alterations, or repair of a single family residence or two family residence for their own use and occupance and not intended for sale.- Such licensed contractor or sole owner shall be held responsible to the Building Official for the proper super- vision and conduct for all work covered thereof. SECTION 80-6 FEES 80.6 (a) General A permit shall not be valid until the fees prescribed in this section have been paid, nor shall an amendment to a permit be approved until the additional fees, if any, shall have been paid. 80.6 (b) Failure to Obtain a Permit If any person commences any work on an installation before obtaining the necessary permit from the Building Official, the permit fee shall be doubled. ~' 80.6 (c) Schedule of Permit Fees (1) General. No permit shall be issued until the fee prescribed under this Section shall have been paid. Nor shall an amendment to a permit be approved until the additional fee, if any, due to the addit~n- al work, shall have been paid. No refund of permit fee~ will be allowed after thirty (30) days from date of issue of the permit. (2) Records. The Building Official shall keep a permanent and accur- ate account of all permit fees and other monies collected, the names of all persons upon whose account the same was paid and the date and amount ~thereof. (3) Schedule of Permit Fees. On all electrical work requiring a ~permit as set forth in 80.5, fees shall be paid as required at the time -of filing application in accordance with the fee schedule, established by the authority having jurisdiction. 10 A reinspection fee of $10.00 may be charged for each reinspection made due to the rejection of work, or due to the fact that work was not ready at the time specified in the request for inspection, or failure to call for inspection. Payment of such fee must be made prior to the reinspection. Plan Filing Fee - Thirty percent (30%) of estimated permit fee uoon filing. Deduct amount from actual fee if permit is obtained within four (4) months from approval date; if not, permit fee is kept. Major working drawing review fee - $100.00 deducted from permit fee if permit is obtained within eight (8) months from submission date. Major fee changes after plans are approved and permit issued - $250.00 fee but in no case more than the original permit fee. Major plan rechecking fee - Second (2nd) and additional check lists ten percent (10%) of permit fee for checking service each time rechecked. 80.7 (a) 80.7 (a) (1) Inspections General Before issuing a permit, the Builing Official or authorized agent may examine or cause to be examined, any building or site at or in which the work is to be done. ~i1 electrical work. shall be inspected from time to time during and upon completion of the work for which a permit is issued. A record sha].l be made of every such examination and inspection, and of all violations of the code. (2) The Electrical Inspector or authorized agent, upon proper notification from the permit holder, shall make the followina inspection of electrical work, toDethez with such other inspections as may be necessary, and shall al,prove that portion of the electrical work of the stages listed below, or shall notify the permit holder, or agent, wherein the same fails to comply ~cith the requirements of the Code. (a) First inspection- After all the wiring has been run and the panel has been installed and made up, or wire and circuits properly tagged with the number of outlets, before it has been covered, other than to provide required mechanical protection, the inspector shall examine same. 11 He shall make such observations and measurements, together with tests, as may be required to determine whether the work complies with the code. Where wiring or circuits have been tagged, in lieu of panel make-up, the tags shall remain until the panel has been finally made up and inspected and approved by the inspector. Inspector may waive the test requirements, provided the electrical contractor shows proof to the inspector that installation will comply with code. (3) The Building Official shall make, or cause to be made a final inspection of all electrical work in buildings upon completion thereof, prior to the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy. ~. (4) No owner or agent shall allow any new building to be occupied by any person until after the electrical work in said building shall have been approved by the Building Official. No equipment regulated ~y this Code 'shall be connected to the power supply and placed in normal operation until it complies with all applicable requirements of this Code and a final inspection approval has been issued. The servicing utility company shall not connect the power supply until noti- fied by the Building Official. 80.8 Violations and Penalties Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate a provision of this code, or fail to comply therewith, or with any of the requirements thereof, shall be guilty of misdemeanor. Each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for ..,~¢'h and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of this code is committed or continued, and upon conviction of any such violation, such person shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), o]3 by imprisonment not exceeding six (6) months, or by both such fine and ~mprisonment. 80.9 Validity If any section, sub-section, sentence, clause or ~hr,~se of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this code. 12 210.1 Scope , The provisions of this Article apply to branch circuits supplying lighting or appliance loads or combinations of both. Where motors or motor-operated appliances are connected to any branch circuit that also supplies lighting or other appliance loads, the provisions of both this Article and Article 430 shall apply. Article 430 applies where a branch circuSt suppiies motor loads only. Branch circuits shall be plainly marked at the overcurrent protective device so they can be quickly and positively identified. 210.50 (d) Any building to be used for other than office occupancies, ware- housing purposes or residences shall have receptacles installed each twenty feet (20') of unencumbered wall space. All receptacles shall ~e installed at accessible locations and this accessibility shall be maintained regardless of wall fixtures or other modifications. Office occupancy shall have receptacles installed each twelve feet (12') of unencumbered wall space. 210.50 (e) All air-conditioning and heating components installed on a roof or in an attic shall have an accessible external disconnect switch and an 110-120 volt A/C grounding type convenience outlet convenient to the general equipment area. 210.52 (g) In each branch circuit panel board of any one and two story residen- tial occupancy there shall be a minimum of two (2) extra spaces for fuse holders or breakers for future use. An emgty raceway term. inating in' an accessible attic or an empty racet;ay terminating an accessible place either under the floor or to ~he exterior of the building above finish grade shall be installed. 210.70 (c) In an attic, a light controlled by a switch located at the required passageway opening shall be provided. Article 215.4 (b) Add to existing Article All feeder conductors to panels shall be installed in an approved raceway. 13 Article 220-2 Paragraph (b),, Lighting Load for Listed Occupancies and Computation of Branch Circuits. In residences a 15A circuit may have eight (8) general lighting outlets and a 20A circuit may have ten (10) general lighting outlets. Article 220-3 Branch Circuits Required Subparagraph (1) of paragraph (b), Small Appliance Branch Circuits - Dwelling Unit. Add to paragraph (1) A small appliance circuit shall not feed more than four (4) receptacles. In kitchens no small appliance receptacles on the same circuit shall be adjacently located. (e) Appliance Branch Circuits - Dwelling Occupancies. Air conditioners, refrigerators, dishwashers, garbage disposals and similar fixed or stationary appliances must have a separate circuit. ~Article 230.43. Wiring methods for 600 Volts or Less Service entrance conductors shall be installed in accord, ance with the applicable requirements of this code. All service entrance conduc- tors shall be installed in an approved raceway such as rigid conduit, aluminum conduit, intermediate metal conduit, E.M.T. and rioid non- metallic conduit, busway, cable bus, aux. gutters and wireways, cable tray or mineral insulated cable. An electrical mast must be rigid or intermediate metal conduit and shall be a minim~ two inch (2") trade size or more in diameter when used as a support mast for service drops. Article 230..70 General Add to existing article: If eight feet (8') or more of service entrance conductors are 1Qcated inside the building as determined by Section 230-44, a disconnect must be installed at the E~eter. Article 300-4 Protection Against Physical Damage.' Add new paragraphs (c) and (d) as follows: (c) In concealed locations where E.~.~.T. Or P.V.C. laid in notches will not later be visible, a steel '~ ~+'"~ , _ pr~.~e~n plate a n~in~mum of one sixteenth inch (1/16") thick shall be installed prior to the application of wall, ceiling or floor finish. 14 (d) Approved rigid metal conduit, non-metallic conduit, surface metal raceway, electrical metallic tubing or intermediate metal conduit shall be required to encase conductors for lights, heat or power in the wiring of buildings containing three (3)-or more dwelling units and in churches, schools, hotels, theaters, public buildings, commercial buildings, manufacturing establishments and all buildings in the des~ig- nated fire district. Article 310.2 (c) Restrictions (a) Aluminum conductors smaller than No. 2 A.W.~G. shall not be installed. (b) All aluminum conductors shall terminate in approved hypress lugs and/or connectors conforming to the manufacturer specifications and/or the Aluminum Association's installation manual and design 'guide. N.M. or N.M.C., when installed on the surface.~of masonry construction, or in spaces between furring strips, or in any location where the possibility of physical damage could result in any style construction, shall be encased in approved metal raceway. Installations involving masonry to frame con- struction, all conductors shall be enclosed in a metal raceway from outlet to outlet. 15 If a ½" E.M.T. sleeve is required for protection of.an N.M. or N.M.C. cable,only one such cable shall be allowed in the sleeve. The sleeve shall be provided with a 90° bend installed in the direction of intended cable travel. Article 348-1 Use E.M.T. may be used in concrete except for grade slabs.
