R 01-~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PROPOSAL OF SELECT CONTRACTING INC., BY PIGGY-BACKING THE CITY OF LAKE WORTH CONTRACT, FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) PRE- ENGINEERED METAL STORAGE BUILDINGS IN THE AMOUNT OF $168,708.00; AUTHORING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID PROPOSAL; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Procurement Services received a request to "piggy-back" the City of Lake Worth Contract for the purchase of two (2) pre-engineered metal storage buildings; WHEREAS, the storage buildings will be utilized by several operational divisions of the Utilities Department to store materials for daily operations, emergency repair parts, spare pumping equipment and supplies needed during power failures or storm events. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, hereby approves the proposal of Select Contracting, Inc., by piggy-backing the City of Lake Worth Contract for the purchase of two (2) pre-engineered metal storage buildings in the amount of $168,708.00; authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute said proposal, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A". This proposal is a 'Wrap Around' contract for the construction of Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings emctad on a concre~ slab. The Subject Project for comparison is the City of Lake Worth, Golf Course Cart Bam Facility. The contract date is July 22, 1998 and the project was completed in December of that same year. The project was quite successful and completed in a timely manner. The construction included one (1) 50'-0' x 100-O' x 12'-0' pre-enginesmd metal building as manufaOJred by Star Building Systems, Inc. The City of Lake Worlh project required removal of inadequate soil and preparation of a compacted building pad. The pay item r~,ed as 'earmwmk - grade bua 3 pad' included finish grading for'the building pad. The pay item listed as 'Con(:m~ - prep slab on grade included digging footings, forming the slab and recompacting the building pad alter excavation. The 12'-0' x 10-0' ~ Door includes a chain hoist and is designed for SBC 97 with a 110 mph wind load and ere reflected on ltm Apprg:ation and Carlification for Payment at $1,000. The pre*engineered metal storage buildings are each 50' x 100' x 12' with a 1.12 roof slope. These buildings will be used by several of the operational divisions of the Utilities Depart~uent to store materials for dally operations. Utilities Department will also store emergenc~ repair' p~rts, spare pumping equipment and supplies needed during power failUres or storm events. Utilities Department fs con~tinually operational (7days Weekly/24 hours day) and the materials and supplies stored will not be in conflict with the Warehouse Division for inventory items. Procurement Services Division recommends Commi~ion's review, evaluation and approval. PROGRAM IMPACT: Tl~.e pre-engineered metal storage buildings will provide the much needed space to provide adequate storage for materials and supplies. FISCAL IMPACT: The Utilities Department Ires $150,000 allOCated in Reserve-Building Improvements for the storage building. Based On the price, and Utility Department needs, it is requested to construct two (2) metal storage buildings at a cost of $168,708.00. The additional funding will be transferred from ReserVe-Future Appropriations.
