R95-003 RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
AN DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
SUBMIT TO PALM BEACH COUNTY HOUSING AND
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT APPLICATIONS
FOR USE OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK
GRANT FUNDING FOR PROGRAM YEAR 1995/96; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Palm Beach County Housing and Community Development is
proceeding with its planning process for the Community Development Block Grant
Program year 1995/96; and
WHEREAS, as a part of this process, Palm Beach County Housing and
Community Development has invited municipalities and non-profit organizations to
submit proposals to their office by Friday, January 6, 1995, at 5:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has prepared two proposal applications
which are designed to allow for expenditures to be made in areas where principal
benefit to Iow and moderate income people could be achieved and is supporting the
proposal from a non-profit organization, Boynton Community Life Center. The
proposals are as follows:
1. Recreation and Park Development - Ezell Hester Improvements
Construction and development improvements at Ezell
Hester Park consisting of two (2) lighted tennis courts, two
(2) lighted basketball courts, landscaping, irrigation,
sodding, grading, site work, utility service, additional
parking, portable stage, dance floor, engineering costs.
Total activity costs:
$263,000.00
Recreation and Park Development- N.E. 6th Avenue
Demolition of duplex, tree removal, grading, sodding,
sidewalks, irrigation, parking, engineering.
Total activity costs: $ 31,350.00
Programming - Boynton Life Center
Provide family support to fifty (50) at-work pregnant and
parenting women and their children. Case management
through home visitation and support groups.
Total activity costs:
$ 62,320.00
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to submit to
Palm Beach County Housing & Community Development project: applications for use
of Community Development Block Grant funding for program year 1995/96.
