CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL 5, WHICH PROPOSES CREATION OF SECTION 286.0115, FLORIDA STATUTES, RELATING TO ACCESS TO PUBLIC OFFICIALS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Government in Florida is conducted in the sunshine pursuant to Chapter 286, Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach feel all citizens should be able to voice their opinions to their local elected public officials; and WHEREAS, House Bill 5 proposes to create section 286.0115, Florida Statutes which would provide that any person not otherwise prohibited by statute, charter provisions or ordinance may contact a local public official and may have ex parte contact with the public official regarding the merits of any matter on which action may be taken by any board or commission on which the local public official is a member. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: ~ The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida hereby supports HouSe Bill 5, which would provide that any person not otherwise prohibited by statute, charter provisions or ordinance may contact a local public official and may have ex parte contact with the public official regarding the merits of any matter on which action may be taken by any board or commission on which the local public official is a member. ~ The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to Senators Graham and Mack, the Congressional Delegation, the Palm Beac~h Co_unty Legislative Delegation, Florida League of Cities, and a~il municipalities in Palm Beach County.
