A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING A GRANT APPLICATION FOR
DEVELOPMENT OF A JUVENILE RECREATION
DIVERSION PROGRAM FOR AT-RISK YOUTH TO
THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE JUSTICE; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, statistics show that 20% of all arrests within the City of Boynton
are juvenile arrests and approximately 67% of all juvenile crimes occur after the hour
5:00 P.M.; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Park Department has collaborated with the Poli
Department to develop a Juvenile Recreation Diversion Program for at-risk youth, whi
programs are planned for after-school hours, evenings and weekends; and
WHEREAS, this grant request will cover 100% of the first year, 90% of the seco
year and 80% of the third year, with reapplication being required each year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida do
hereby authorize the Park and Recreation Department to submit a grant request to t
Department of Juvenile Justice for the development of a Juvenile Recreation Diversi,
Program, and to authorize the City Manager to execute any necessary grant documer
as may be required for submittal.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.
