THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: , 23! Section 1. The foregoing whereas clauses are true and correct and are now ratified 241 and confirmed y the City Commission. 25 That Part I, Chapter 2, Article XIV "Veterans Advisory Commisison" 26 of the B ynton Beach Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows: 271 ARTICLE XIV: VETERANS ADVISORY COMMISSION 28 29 Sec. 2-187 Ore:anization 30 The Veterans Advisory Commission shall consist of a total of seyen (7) eight DU regular members, four (1)five (5) alternate members, and ten (10) honorary/ex- officio members. I of Boynton Beach for appointment to membership on the Veterans Advisory 2 Commission. 3 4 Sec. 2-188 Board Appointment and Membership 5 . . . 6 (b) Qualification for appointment. In order to qualify for appointment to 7 membership on the Veterans Advisory Commission, members must meet the following 8 qualifications: 9 (1) Military Service. All members serving on the Veterans Advisory 10 Commission must have served in a branch of the armed forces of the United / \I States and, if no longer active, be onorably discharged therefrom. 12l (2) Organization Member Ip. A minimum of six (6) regular members of 13 the Veterans Advisory Co ission must be a member of a local chapter of one 14 of the following organi 15 a. 16 b. 17 c. isabled American Veterans; 18 d. Korean War Veterans; 19 Vietnam War Veterans; 20 Submarine War Veterans; 2] g. Jewish War Veterans; 22 h. Catholic War Veterans; 23 1. Women's Army Corps Veterans; and 24 J. Maritime War Veterans. 25 (3) Nationwide Organization Membership. If the individual nominated is 26 not a member of the organizations listed above, a maximum of one (1) of the 27 appointed Board Members may, in the alternative, be a member of a national veterans organization. However, this national veterans organization must have a charter that provides for service and assistance to veterans of the United States. (4) Residency. A maximum of one (1 )two (2) regul embers may 2 live outside the City of Boynton Beach, so long as they are ctive in one of the 3 local chapters of the organizations listed above and are sidents of Palm Beach 4 County. I 10 \I I Sec. 2-190 Procedure for enactment and votine:. 12 All actions subject to a vote shall be enacted as set forth below. 13 (a) Quorum. The Veterans Advisory Commission may not take any action unless a 14 quorum is present. A quorum shall consist of the physical presence of no less than fem 15 f4Jfive (5) voting members of the Veterans Advisory Commission. 16 17 Section 3. All laws and ordinances applying to the City of Boynton Beach in 18 conflict with any provisi0n of this ordinance are hereby repealed. 19 Section 4. /Should any section or provision of this Ordinance or any portion 20 by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not 21 22 Authority is hereby given to codify this Ordinance. 23 Section 6.
