05.04.02 - Government Cable Channel CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY MANUAL CHAPTER: 05 Public Affairs Policy No. 05.04.02 SECTION: 04 Public Affairs Directives Page: 1 of 1 SUBJECT: 02 Government Cable Channel PURPOSE: The City of Boynton Beach intends to become a model for quality government programming by creating interesting, relevant and timely programming on BBTV18. The City’s purpose in offering programming on BBTV18 is to provide information about Boynton Beach City Government and its services, policies and programs in order to enhance public understanding of City Government and local issues affecting City Government. The City will strive to provide programming that is fair, accurate, balanced and without regard to partisanship or ideology. It is not the City’s intention to create any sort of public forum on BBTV18 but to provide information concerning City Government issues. SCOPE: Access channels and operations are created to provide information, education and entertainment to a community and for its own benefit. benefit. BBTV18 takes its message directly into the homes of the community for them to view when and how they see fit. It can offer citizens the ability to attend a city commission meeting or other community type forums. The channel gives the citizen another opportunity to stay involved with the government that serves them. AUTHORIZATION: A Government Channel “Review Board” has been established consisting of representatives from the City Manager’s office, Public Affairs, Recreation & Parks and Information Technology Services. A Public Information Officers team, consisting of a representative from each city department, will also be established. City departments, through their PIO member, may submit a formal request for programming when they feel it appropriate for broadcast on the City Government Channel.
