06.09.02 Managerial Work Hours CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY MANUAL CHAPTER: 06 Personnel Policies Policy No. 06.09.02 SECTION: 09 Hours of Work Page: 1 of 2 SUBJECT: 02 Managerial Employee Work Hours PURPOSE: In order to provide increased flexibility for managerial employees and to insure that the City is utilizing the talents and skills of managerial employees without creating an undue hardship due to the varying hours of work expected of those employees. PROCEDURE: 1. Managerial employees are considered the city manager, the assistant City manager, the assistant to the City Manager, department heads and any employees who have the responsibility for filling in for any of these positions during their absence from the City. 2. Generally, the standard workday for managerial employees is 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with one hour allowed for a lunch break. The Utilities Department generally works from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm and the Public Works Department generally works from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm. The minimum hours of work in a work week are 40 hours. 3. It is understood that, due to the nature of conducting the business of the City of Boynton Beach, managerial employees must work beyond the standard workday. This will include a number of significant night and weekend meetings and functions. 4. Managerial employees will be allowed to alter their standard work day and/or work week, within reason, when they have participated in night and weekend meetings and functions during that work week. 5. Managerial employees are being given some flexibility with this administrative policy. It is not the intent of this policy to have managerial employees document each and every hour that they work. Managerial employees are expected to work the total amount of hours necessary to complete all of their assignments. Therefore, managerial employees are being given the authority to alter their working schedule, within reason, to insure that they remain productive, efficient and fresh in their work. 6. The City Manager will will be responsible for insuring that managerial employees are maintaining adequate work hours and that they are not abusing the right to alter their own work schedule based upon this policy.
