An employee may not accept gratuities in any form whatsoever from any member of the public. Consistent with past policy the following “directive” is still in effect. No employee or member
of his/her immediate family shall accept or receive any holiday gifts from anyone who does business with the City or receives services or advice from the City in those instances where
it can at all possibly be construed that the gift is related to the official relationship of the employee and the giver. This prohibition of giving and receiving gifts also applies to
departments, divisions, and offices where gifts are often given in a very general way to the entire office. This policy does not apply to the reasonable exchange of gifts between employees.
