08.01.04 - Adding equip-vehicle modifications CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY MANUAL CHAPTER: 08 City Equipment POLICY NO.: 08.01.04 SECTION: 01 Fleet Maintenance Policy PAGE: 1 of 1 SUBJECT: 04 Adding Equipment/Vehicle Modifications PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this policy is to establish procedures for adding, mounting, or modifying City Equipment and Vehicles. The scope is to include all City owned rolling stock equipment and vehicles. ADDING EQUIPMENT/MOUNTING TOOLING Mounting any equipment/tooling to any City owned vehicle, when drilling/welding is involved, shall require the advanced approval of the Fleet Administrator. EQUIPMENT/VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS Modifications to any City owned or operated vehicles/equipment is forbidden. To alter in any way, any system previously approved by D.O.T., the Federal Highway Safety Commission, and/or any other agency charged with vehicle engineering and safety, constitutes a violation of the applicable laws governing such features. Removal or alterations of any SAFETY equipment contained in, or mounted on any vehicle, alteration of the suspension system, cooling system, exhaust system, emissions control system, collision protection devices is illegal and could cause the City of Boynton Beach, the vehicle operator, division supervisors, and department directors to be subjected to fines and penalties under the law.
