Claims PURPOSE: To provide guidelines for the handling of claims for damages resulting from problems in City sewer lines. POLICY: 1. When a call is received from property owner regarding
a backed up sewer, the person receiving the call shall inform the property owner to contact a cleaning service of their choice immediately to mitigate the damage. 2. The Utilities Department
shall immediately notify Risk Management by phone of the backup so that a claims adjuster can be sent to the location for damage assessment. 3. The Utilities Department shall investigate
the incident to determine whether the damage was a result of a problem within the City line. The Incident Report Form (RM 200) shall be completed and forwarded to Risk Management. DEVELOPED
