16.02.01 - Office Recycling Program CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY MANUAL CHAPTER: 16 Solid Waste Policy No. 16.02.01 SECTION: 02 Recycling Page: 1 of 2 SUBJECT: 01 Office Recycling Program PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The purpose of this directive is to provide guidelines for an in-house office-recycling Program for all City departments and employees. OBJECTIVE: To keep recyclable items out of the landfill and to help aid the Country in meeting the Statewide recycling goals. DISCUSSION: The City of Boynton Beach strongly supports recycling as an effective waste management strategy. To that end, and to provide an example for residents and other City businesses, an in-house City Office Recycling Program was established in April 1990. This program provides for the collection of used newspaper, office paper, aluminum cans, glass containers, and plastic containers. POLICY: 1. The Recycling Coordinator shall work cooperatively to provide an Office Recycling Program for all departments. 2. All City employees are strongly encouraged to participate in this program to the maximum extent feasible. PROCEDURES: 1. Requests for recycling containers shall be directed to the Facilities Management Division at ext. 6214. 2. Office paper shall be placed in the cardboard recycling container placed near each desk. Co-mingled items shall be placed in the blue curbside-recycling box located in various areas throughout the City. 1 2 3. The Facilities Management Division shall ensure that custodial services include routine servicing of these containers. 4. The Solid Waste Manager shall ensure that recyclable materials recovered from City facilities are properly transferred to the appropriate county materials recycling facility (MRF).
