3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
4 CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A
5 FEMA FIRE ACT GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF
6 $138,880 FOR GRANT #EMW -201 0-FO-06789;
7 AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF THE ENTIRE
8 AMOUNT FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIREFIGHTER
9 SAFETY AND SURVIVAL EQUIPMENT (RIT PACKS)
10 AND THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF
11 "DIRECT CAPTURE" DIESEL FILTERING EQUIPMENT;
12 AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

15 WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach Fire Department applied for and has been
16 awarded a grant from the Directorate's FY 2010 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program;
17 and
18 WHEREAS, the grant is in the amount 01'$138,880, with matching funds from the
19 City in the amount 01'$34,720; and
20 WHEREAS, a portion of the entire project funds will be used to purchase RlT packs
21 that include firefighter safety and survival equipment not currently in the Department's
22 inventory of equipment; and
23 WHEREAS, a portion of the project funds will be used to purchase eighteen (18)
24 Direct Source Capture Diesel Filtering Units to be installed on the diesel apparatus that are
25 currently in the Fire Department's fleet in order to reduce and/or eliminate the toxic
26 emissions that contain carcinogens, etc., thus improving the environment that our firefighters
27 and City mechanics work in.
28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
29 THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:

31 Section 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as

1 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption
2 hereof.
3 Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach hereby accepts the
4 FEMA Fire Act Grant award in the amount of $138,880 for grant EMW-201O-FO-06789
5 with a required match by the City of $34,720 and authorizes the purchase of firefighter
6 safety and survival equipment (RIT packs) and the purchase and installation of "Direct
7 Capture" diesel filtering equipment.
8 Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.
