A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING
THE SUPPORT OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION
FOR THE DESIGNATION OF "SMART PHONES" IN
SPECIFIC TARGETED AREAS OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, upon
recommendation of staff, has determined that the designation of "smart phones" at
certain specific locations within the City of Boynton Beach, will deter criminal activity;
and
WHEREAS, Petitions have been filed by owners of pay telephones in a specific
targeted area and forwarded to the Public Service Commission for the designation of
"smart phones", so that no in-coming calls can be received at said locations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1, The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida hereby
supports the petitions of area pay telephone owners to the Public Service
Commission for the designation of "smart phones" in an effort to deter criminal activity
at specific locations; and
~ The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida does
request the support of the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation on behalf of the
City of Boynton Beach, Florida and its residents for the designation of "smart phones"
in the specific targeted areas.

Commission and to the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation.
This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.
