a RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
AND SUPPORTING THE SUBMISSION OF A SPECIAL
CATEGORY GRANT FOR THE 19'~3 BOYNTON
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, in 1993 the City of Boynton Beach was awarded a Special
Category Grant for phase one restoration necessary for the 1913 Boynton Elementary
School; and
WHEREAS, additional funds for phase two are now being requested to enable
the City to complete the necessary restoration work; and
WHEREAS, on March 7, 1993, the School was officially listed on the National
Register of Historic Places, only the second such building to achieve this designation
in Boynton Beach; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida hereby
authorizes the submission of the Special Category Grant to the Bureau of Historic
Preservation, Department of State for the second phase of the reStoration work on the
1913 Historic Boynton Elementary School.
~ That the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida,
agrees to support a 50% local match of $300,000 for this project.
