R97- Ad° A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACI, FLORIDA, 4 0"jr' ESTABLISHING A CHA1TER REVISION f�( COMMITTEE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVIEWING (a( THE CITY'S CHARTF,R' AND FORMULATING RECOMMENDATIONS /TO THE CITY COMMISSION, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City,Commission has been informed by City staff, the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce, and the community at large that the entire Charter is in II need of review and any articles and sections of the Charter require re- organization and i 11 revision; and i f WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, is desiybus of receiving input and comments from the community, staff, and other interested I /entities with respect to revising the City Charter, and / WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach deems it to be in // j the best interests of the residents of the City to appoint a Charter Revision Committee on a short-term basis to assist the City Commission in revising the Charter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida does hereby establish a Charter Revision Committee which shall study the Charter and formulate recommendations for revisions to the City Commission Section 2. That the Charter Revision Committee shall consist of seven (7) individuals, with each member of the City Commission appointing one (1) member to the Committee, another individual to be appointed on an at -large basis upon agreement of the ! City Commission, and the final member of the Committee shall be Sue Kruse, the City Clerk I ' Section 3. That the sole duty and purpose of the Charter Revision Committee I t shall be to review the entire City Charter with respect to reorganizing and revising the it Charter to benefit the interests of the community at large, the City's municipal government, its public officials, and employees, and to formulate recommendations to the City Commission Section 4. That the Charter Revision Committee shall immediately pursue its assigned task with a target date for completion of , 1997 Section 5. That the Charter Revision committee shall disband upon the discharge of its assigned task or by , 1997, unless otherwise extended by action of the City Commission. Section 6. That the Charter Revision Committee shall act and conduct its meetings in accordance with Florida's Sunshine and Public Records Laws. Section 7. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED this day of June, 1997.
