A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
REQUEST TO THE FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION
DISTRICT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE
DOWNTOWN MANGROVE PARK.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach, desires to construct a nature park to further the
environmental education of.the public as well as to assist in
the development of downtown Boynton Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Inland Navigation District
(F.I.N.D.) has previously approved the City's grant request
for the preliminary engineering and permitting of the park;
and
WHEREAS, the plans have been completed and permits
obtained for the park; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection under the Florida Recreation and Parks Program, the
Florida Department of Community Affairs under the Coastal
Management Program and the Palm Beach County Solid Waste
Authority under its recycling program all are participating
with the City of Boynton Beach to construct this park; and
WHEREAS, the City is now in a position to begin
construction of the park and would like to request F.I.N.D.
assistance in the form of a grant request to support the
construction of this facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida, does hereby authorize and support the
submittal of a grant request to the Florida Inland Navigation
District for construction funds for the Downtown Mangrove Park
Project; and
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida does hereby authorize the Mayor and City Clerk
to execute all necessary documents in relation to the grant.
