A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH AND SOUTHERN STAR EVENT
SERVICES, INC., PROVIDING FOR SECURITY
SERVICES AT G.A.L.A.; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Boynton's G.A.L.A. has been a self-sustaining
festival funded through corporate sponsorships, user and entry
fees, concession revenue and in-kind services since 1991 and
all costs, including employee overtime, are funded through
these revenues; and
WHEREA$~ employee overtime, particularly in the area of
police security which is essential to the event, has increased
substantially over the past several yea.rs; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of staff that a
combination of Boynton Police Officers and private security
guards will achieve improved efficiency to maximize available
dollars and reduce expenditures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to e~ecute an Agreement between the City of Boynton
Beach and Southern Star Event Services, Inc., to provide
security guard services for the 1994 Boynton G.A.L.A., which
Agreement is attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. That this Resolution
effective immediately upon passage.

AGREEMENT
*This agreement is made between the City of Boynton Beach~ (hereinafter known as Boynton
Beach) and Southern Star Event Services, Inc.; (hereinafter known as Southern Star), where
Boynton Beach is hiring Southern Star to provide security guard services for the 1994 Boymon
G.A.L.A.
Scope of Work
Southern Star will provide security officers to secure gates (barricades) at the Boynton G.A.L.A.
on March 18, 19 & 20. Southern Star ~d!l also provide one securky officer for overnight
security on March 18 & 19.
The hours of work are as follows:

Compensation
Boynton Beach agrees to pay Southern Star a rate of $8.50 per hour per personnel Southern
Star agrees not to charge tax on this amount so long as Boynton Beach provides Southern Star
with proper tax exempt number. Payment will be made ~n a timely manner and will nor exceed
thirty days from the completion of work.
INSURANCE
Southern Star agrees to maintain a One Million Dollar liability policy and provide a certificate of
insurance naming Boynton Beach as additional insured. Southern Star will also maintain a
workman's compensation policy acceptable to Boynton Beach.
