rd like to nominate Dr. Joseph Ferrer to be the grand marshal of the Boynton Beach Holiday Parade...
Dr. Ferrer has left a lasting impact on Boynton Beach and is deserving of the honor.
And there is no greater honor than to ride in the first unit of the parade and then be able to watch the
remainder of the parade with your distinguished city officials, especially Mayor Jerry Taylor, who has
spent a career serving our former outstanding County Commissioner Mary McCarty, who herself might
be a worthy consideration if not for Joe's largesse (no pun intended).
Dr. Ferrer has left a lasting impact through his above board completely transparent relationship with
former CRA Director Lisa Bright. First, consider his "volunteerism "....
for only $186,000 in no-bid contracts for his services, Dr. Ferrer volunteered to provide entertainment
through his company at Boynton Beach events. As you know, Sunset Entertainment was one of South
Florida's premier cultural providers before inexplicably going bankrupt, through no fault of Dr. Ferrer.
In collusion, please consider Dr. Ferrer for this noteworthy honor...
2013 Holiday Parade Grand Marshal Nomination
The Holiday Parade Grand Marshal is a featured person who will be escorted in the first unit of the
Holiday Parade along with the city dignitaries on Saturday, December 7, 2013. This person will be
chauffeured in a vehicle provided by a local business that has been selected by the city staff. The
Grand Marshal will also have the opportunity to enjoy the rest of the parade from the viewing stand
along with other celebrated guests.
Parade Grand Marshal Criteria
• Nominees should be individuals who have made a lasting impact or significant contribution to
the Boynton Beach Community.
• The Grand Marshall selection is based on the criteria of being an outstanding individual,
exhibiting community leadership, acting as a mentor or contributing personal efforts that reflect
positively on the Boynton Beach Community.
• All nominations must include a short summary of no more thanl to 2 paragraphs of why the
nominee is deserving of this honor. Letters of recommendation may also be included as an
attachment.
• The nominee's contact information must be included in order to be considered for this honor.
• Grand Marshal's from previous Holiday Parades are not eligible.
Nominations will be accepted through October 22, 2013. No nominations wiN be accepted after this
date. The designated Grand Marshal must confirm acceptance by November 12, 2013. If you have

Contributions made by the Laura's enthusiasm has brought together schools, businesses, The
nominee: Literacy Coalition and other Boynton Beach nonprofits and local
government departments to help improve the literacy rate of our
children. She is the spark that has ignited a passion to help in just
about everyone she meets. Laura Orlove, is a literacy coach at Forest
Park Elementary school who started the Boynton Reads initiative.
"Many students need to practice reading after school, but lack books
that are at the correct reading level. This book drive's goal is to
ensure our students continue to improve their reading skills, and feel
pride and accomplishment that they have their own books that they
can read." She created a logo, runs the meetings, spoken at City
Commission meetings, obtained sponsors, held book drives at the
holidays and before the summer break, and written and has been
awarded grants...all to help children learn to read! Laura's passion to
help children is astounding! Her dream is for every child to learn how
to read. Her dedication and drive is infectious. She has one of the
biggest hearts I have ever seen and would be an excellent choice for
Grand Marshall of the Holiday Parade.

nominee: Beach for the 2013 Holiday Parade Grand Marshal. I have known Mark
for several years and find him to be a humble man, giving of himself to
better the lives of people in his community.
Mark serves on the Board of P2P, a non - profit organization in the Heart
of Boynton Beach. This organization feeds up to 500 families a month
from the food bank, approximately 300 of those living in Boynton.
Mark is an active member in the choir of St. John's Missionary Baptist
Church and his soprano voice can be heard on any given Sunday.
Mark's leadership qualities as a member of Boynton's CRA has helped
our City transform some of our most blighted areas back into national
award winning recognition, such as the Marina District and Seabourn
Cove.
Mark has served in the past as an Ambassador for Boynton Beach's
Chamber of Commerce promoting area businesses. His past service as a
member of the City's Code Compliance Board has helped us maintain a
safe and clean City.
I would respectively ask you to consider Mr. Mark Karageorge for 2013
Parade Grand Marshal for his attributes of leadership, mentoring and
volunteerism and his love of community.

Contributions made by the Rick Beau Lieu located his studio in Boynton Beach in 1986.
nominee: International sculptor, art advocate and art appraiser, Rick represents
and mentors artists contributing much of his time to the community.
In 1989, he collaborated with local businesses to clean up the dump
site along West Industrial Avenue, placed art along the street,
positively impacted the esthetics and crime in the area. He lobbied to
have the area designated as the Arts District. Today it is a thriving
contemporary art scene with monthly Art Walks attracting artists and
visitors from all over South Florida.
Rick was one of the founding members of the Arts Commission and
major contributor to the Art in Public Places program. Rick still
provides support to the program and continues to volunteer his time to
build the program. In 2013, he volunteered his services to the first -in-
the- nation International Kinetic Art Exhibit and Symposium. Rick
Beau Lieu continues to be a valuable assess to our community. It's
time to celebrate Rick Beau Lieu's contribution to our City by
honoring him as Grand Marshall for the Holiday Parade.

nominee: Veteran's Council, nor American Legion Post 164 where he has
served as our Public Relations Chairman, for many years since also
serving in native New York.
When you drive on Federal Hgy north of Boynton Blvd, and see the
beautiful AND GROWING Boynton Veteran's Park with the growing
# of monuments and benches dedicated to our past and current
Veteran's, we can all thank Tom for all his dedication, and financial
support to make this park a reality.
Tom is also responsible for his service and love to our Posts Boy
Scout Troop who recently joined a few of us at the POW /MIA 24 hr
Vigil at the park where we patrolled the walks all night.

Contributions made by the Tom Kaiser is an American Legion member that does a lot of work
nominee: with local authorities for veterans affairs. He developed the Veteran's
park in Boynton Beach,(which your town & residents should be proud
of) & a variety of many road marker monuments along Federal Hwy

hundreds of Veteran's that needed to be thanked & recognized from
