R14-019 (2)1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 S \CA \RESO \Reso - Lake Ida Property.doc RESOLUTION NO. 1441q A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING CITY COMMISSIONER MICHAEL FITZPATRICK TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATIONS WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY TO ACQUIRE FOR THE CITY 4.85 ACRES OF VACANT LANDLOCKED COUNTY -OWNED SURPLUS LAND AT THE NORTH END OF LAKE IDA PARK; URGING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO SUPPORT TRANSFER OF THE LAND TO THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH FOR NOMINAL VALUE NOT TO EXCEED $100,000; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Boynton Beach City Commissioner Michael Fitzpatrick has promoted the acquisition of land within the City of Boynton Beach to expand the City's open space and greenway plans; and WHEREAS, on January 21, 2014, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach approved Commissioner Fitzpatrick's conceptual plan and authorized Commissioner Fitzpatrick to negotiate with Palm Beach County and to return to the City Commission with a specific proposal which would facilitate the transfer of the land from County to City ownership and control; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach finds that the acquisition of property referenced in this Resolution advances the interest of the citizens of Palm Beach County and the City of Boynton Beach regardless of place of residency by preserving and expanding public parks. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The "Whereas" clauses set forth hereinabove are incorporated herein by reference. Section 2: Commissioner Michael Fitzpatrick is authorized to enter into preliminary negotiations with representatives of Palm Beach County to effectuate the transfer of 4.85 acres of 1 vacant landlocked County -owned surplus land at the north end of Lake Ida Park and depicted on attached Exhibit #1. Following negotiations, Commissioner Fitzpatrick, with the assistance of the City Administration and City Attorney shall return a specific written proposal to the City Commission for final approval. Section 3. The Board of County Commissioners is urged to support the City's proposal to acquire the 4.85 acres referenced above for nominal value not to exceed $100,000.
