A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, OFFICIALLY
RECOGNIZING RETIRING FIRE CHIEF EDWARD K.
ALLEN FOR HIS LONG STANDING COMMITMENT AND
MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF BOYNTON
BEACH.
WHEREAS, Edward K. Allen has provided the City of Boynton Beach
Fire Department with 26 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Edward K. Allen first joined the Department in the 1960's
as a volunteer and rose through the ranks to become Chief in 1989; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, the Department has grown along with
the City to include three stations and a staff of 95 men and women; and
WHEREAS, under Edward K. Allen's leadership, the department has
made many advances in firefighting and lifesaving technology; and
t~IEREAS, during Edward K. Allen's tenure with the City the Fire
Department has advanced from a volunteer unit to a professional operation;
and
WHEREAS, the department, grew to include the service of rescue
while Edward K. Allen was a member; and
WHEREAS, Edward K. Allen supervised the addition of transport
capabilities to the department; and
WHEREAS, the Boynton Beach Fire Department has provided the
residents of the City of Boynton Beach with the best possible fire and
rescue servi:es during Edward K. Allen's tenure.
NOg, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY C0~4I$$IOg OF THE CITY
OF BOYNTOg BEACH, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. That the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City of
Boynton Beach, Florida, do hereby officially recognize and thank Edward K.
Allen for all that he has given to the Fire Department and to the City of
Boynton Beach.
