3 ! A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
4 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE APPLICATION
5 AND ALL DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FLORIDA
6I DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN THE
7 AMOUNT OF $57,000 TO PROVIDE A NON - MOTORIZED VESSEL
8 LAUNCHING FACILITY AT INTRACOASTAL PARK; APPROVING
9 THE INCLUSION OF THE INTRACOASTAL PARK NON -
10 a MOTORIZED VESSEL LAUNCH FACILITY PROJECT IN THE
111 FY2015/2016 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN; AND PROVIDING AN
12 EFFECTIVE DATE.

15 ; WHEREAS, the Recreational Trails Grant Program is a matching grant that provides
16 up to a maximum of $200,000 for construction or development of a non - motorized single or
17 diverse use trail, which includes non - motorized blueway trails; and
18 WHEREAS, the grant is a 50/50 match and will require the City to fund $28,500 of
19 the $57,000 project, if awarded; and
20 WHEREAS, the grant requires that the facility be available for public use and be
21 maintained for no less than 25 years; and
22 WHEREAS, the launching facility will help protect the Preservation Area at
23 Intracoastal Park by providing a more appropriate area for people to launch kayaks, canoes,
24 paddle boards and other types of non - motorized vessels and creating such a facility is
25 approved for the inclusion in the FY2015/16 Capital Improvement Plan.
26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
27 THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:

29 Section 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
30 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption
31 hereof.
1 Section 2. The City Commission approves and authorizes the City Manager to
2 sign the application documents associated with the Florida Department of Environmental
3 Protection Grant for $57,000 to provide a non - motorized vessel launching facility at
4 Intracoastal Park.
5 Section 3. The City Commission approves the inclusion of the Intracoastal Park
6 non- motorized vessel launch facility project in the FY2015/16 Capital Improvement Plan.
7 Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.
8 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21 day of April, 2015.
