FLORIDA,~ HELD FRIDAYs FEBRUARY 28, 1969 AT 2 P.M.

Mayor Gallo called the special meeting to order at 2 P.M. to reconsider
the installation o~ a t-~affic light at the intersection of' State ,Road
804 and Congress A~enue based on a latter received f~om Mr, Gantner
of ~he gtat~ Road Department.
He also asked for an explanation from the City Attorney as to the City's
liability if we proceed with the installation. ~. Moore expressed hi~
opinion that th~s light would be no more of a liability than other city
t~affie lights.
Councilman Michael read the recommendations received ~rom Chief Thompson
as additional safety measures at this intersection.
Reduce speed to 35 MPH at least 300 yards
each side of traffic light on Congress Ave.
2. Lane markings on Congress ~o p~ovide for
turning lane.
Reduce speed to 55 MPH at least 300 yards
west of intersection on State Road 804 and
continua 35 MPH zone to the Seaboard ~ossing.
After a lengthy discussion: Vice P~yor Summers made a motion to pro-
ceed with the instsllation of the light and other ~ecommendations made
by the Chief. Motion seconded by Councilman Michael and carried S-to t~
Mr. Collins votin~ No, The light and the signs are to be posted simul-
taneously.
Mr. Courtney advised Council that Mr. Warren had stated that the County
Commissioners had voted to lend us a traffic light for this location
upon receipt of an official~request. M~. Summers moued that we borrow
the light and controls from the County. Motion seconded by Mr, Michael
and carried 3 to 1; Mr. Collins vo~ing No.
