~N ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 56 OF ARTICLE IV OF THE M~JNICIPAL
CH~LRTER OF SAID CITY, PROVIDING PORALL REGULARAND
SPECIAL MEETINGS OF CITY COUNCIL TO BE OPEN TO T~
PUBLIC; PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY TO CODIFY, SAVINGS
CLkUSE, REPEALING PROVISIONS, AN EFFECTIVE DATE A~WD
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Section 56 of Article IV of the
of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, provides
special meetings of the City Council to be held
as not tO be open to the public; and
WHEREAS, such closed meetings are prohibited by law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City deems it proper
and appropriate to strike from said Section 56 such language
providing for executive sessions and meetings closed to the
)ublic.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
tTY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That'S.e~ti0n. 56~0f ~Art~teI¥ of the Municipal
Charter of the City of Boyn~°n ~Be~ch, Florida, is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"Sec. 56. Special and regular meetings of council, rules
of procedure; minutes, inSPection of.
The Mayor or any three members of the City Council
may call special meetings of the City Council upon
written notice to each member served persQnally or
left at the usual place of residence. All regular
and special meetings of the City Council shall be
open to the public. The City Council shall deter-
mine its own rules and order of business and shall
keep a minute book of its proceedings. The minutes
of the Council meetings shall be available for
inspection by any citizen at all reasonable times."
Section 2. Authority to Codify: Specific authority is
Hereby granted to codify and incorporate this Ordinance in the
City's exlstino Code.
Section 3. Separability: Each of the provisions of this
Ordinance are separable, including Word, clause, phrase or
sentence, and if any portion thereof shall ~e declared invalid,
the remaining portion shall not be affected but shall remain in
Municipal Charter
for regular and

Section 4. Repealing P'rovisions: Ail Ordinances or parts
of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5. An Effective Date: This Ordinance shall
become effective in the manner and at the time provided by law.
