AMENDING SECTION 17-23 OF CHAPTER 17 OF THE CODIFIED
ORDINANcEs OF SAID CITY, CHANGING THE MINIMUM AGE
FROM 21 TO 18 YEARS FOR PERSONS PERMITTED IN BILLIARD
PARLORS; FURTHER PROUIDING FOR REPEALING PROVISIONS;
SAVINGS CLAUSE, AUTHORITY TO CODIFY, AN EFFECTIVE
DATE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED.BY THE~CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That Section 17-23 of Chapter 17 of the
Codified Ordinances of the City of Bo~nton Beach, Florida, is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 17-23.
Minors Presence in pool halls
prohibited; exception; sign required.
(a) It is unlawful for any person, his servant
or employee to permit anyone under the age of
eighteen (18) years to visit or frequent oz play
in any billiard parlor in the city; provided,
however, this shall not apply to any person on
active duty in the armed services of the United
States, or who has a written permit or card
signed and notarized by his parent or guardian
and filed in the establishment to which the permit
or card is given by the parent or guardian of the
minor involved, or a married minor, or when accom-
panied by parent or guardian. The said permit
card may be revoked at any time by the parent or
guardia~ or by the operator of said billiard parlor
by returning the card to the parent or guardian,
or by any law enforcement off~cer'upon conviction
of the party or parties of a crime. No written
permit shall be valid in any establishment which
sells or permits consumption on its premises of
intoxicating or alcoholic beverages.
(b) It shall he the duty of any person who is
the proprietor or keeper of a:billiard parlor or
pool hall to post conspicuousIy in his place of
business the following sign: 'Minors under the
age of eighteen (18) years not allowed here without
written permission of parent, i'"
Section 2: Repealing Provisions: Ail ordinances or
parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3: Separability: Should any section or provm-
sion of this Ordinance or any portion he~eof, be declared by a
Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision

shall not affect the validi%y of the remainder hereof as a whole
or any part hereof, other than the part declared to be invalid.
Section ~: Authority to Codify: Specific authority
is hereby granted to codify and incorporate this Ordinance In
the City's existing Code.
Section 5: Effe'¢tive Date: This Ordinance shall become
effective in the manner and at the time provided by law. First reading this .~ day of March, 1975.
