AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODIFIED
ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY BY ADDING SECTION 12'2.2
ENTITLED '~SUPPLEMENTARY LIGHTING SYSTEM", PROVIDING
FOR A SUPPLE.W!ENTARY OR EMERGENCY LIGHTINGSYSTEM TO
BE AUTOMATICALLY ACTU~TED IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE
IN ASSEMBLY OCCUPANCY BUILDINGS; PROVIDING FOR
AUTHORITYTO CODIFY, SAVINGS CLAUSE, REPEALING
PROVISIONS, AN EFFECTIVE DkTE AND FOR OTHER
PURPOBES,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida, deems it necessary and advisable that buildings
for assembly occupancy be provided with a supplementary or
emergency lighting system which shall be automatically actuated
in case of power failure for the public health, welfare and
safety of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
S~tion 1: That Chapter 12 of the Codified Ordinances
of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, be and is hereby amended
by adding thereto an additional section to be known as
Chapter 12-2.2 which shall read as follows:
"Section 12-2.2. Supplementary Lighting System.
The following buildings in which provision is
made for the gathering of persons for the purpose
of assembly shall be classified as Assembly
Occupancy:
Auditoriums
Churches
Dance Halls
Gymnasiums
Motion Picture
Houses
Museums
Public Assembly Buildings
Recreation Halls
Stadiums
Tents (Assembly)
Theaters
There shall be installed in every Assembly
Occupancy a supplementary lighting system in addition
to the regular system by local electric power. Such
supplementary or emergency lighting system shall be
auuomatically actuated in case of power failure.
Every emergency lighting system shall be maintained
in good working order and shall be tested at least
once every ten (10) days.
Every building of the above classification not
now equipped as provided above shall comply with the
above requirement within one year from the date of

Section 2__ Authority to Codify: Specific authority
granted to codify and incorporate this Ordinance in the
Cityf~S exlsting Code,
Sectlon_~ '3. _Separability:__ Each of.the provisions of
this Ordinance are separable, including word: clause, phrase or
sentence, and if any portion thereof shall be declared invalid,
the remaining portion shall not be affected but shall remain in
full force and effect.
Section 4. Repealing Provisions: All ordinances or
parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5. An Effective Date: This Ordinance shall
become effective in the manner and at the time provided by law.
