Mayor McCoy ~.lled the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and stated
that this special meeting had been called to considem Ordinance
67-5 pmoviding for night club classification and extended hours
pemmit. '_mhe mayor asked who had called subject meetJ_ng and
Mr. Collins stated that he had.
Rev. Robert May led in prayer.
The City Clemk read a letter from Rev. Douglas M. Smith~ pastor
of the Fi~-st United Presbyterian Church in ~nich he objected to
the hours be. Lng extended for the sale of aicoholie beverages
from 3 A.M. to 5 A.M.
Mayor McCoy noted the closing hours of surrounding cities for
the information o~ those present.
Rev. Robert May, pastor of St. John's Methodist Church and
P~esident of the Boynton Beach Ministerial Association diligently
pleaded with the Council not to extend the hours ~rom 5 A.M. to
5 A.M.
Rev. Vernon Pemkins~ pastor of First Baptist Chur~h~ strenuously
objected to the extension of the hours and ~elt that 98% of the
people in ~he audience were present to objec~ to subject change
in hours of the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Mr. Fruda read Ordinance 67-5 providing for a night club classi-
fication of occupational license; providing for an extended hours
permit and establishing fees therefor. Mr. Collins moved that
Ordinanee 67-5 be approved on ist reading and passed to 2nd
reading. Motion seconded by Mr. Nylund.
Mr. Nylund stated that he had talked to police chiefs of surround-
ing cities today and they informed him that they had had no
tmouble in the past with their late cl~sinq hour and don~t expect
any.
~. Michael expressed his wishes that subject ordinanoe go to
second reading so that both sides ~ould have ~mple time to be
heard. He stated that he did not think there was a moral issue
involved as to whether drinking is good or bad but that the
question is whether we limit businesses in our city thru omdin-
anca to operate for a certain period of time which places them

in a position of unfair competition with the same type business
in surrounding towns.
The mayor stated t=nat he thought the men that wrote the ordinance
we are operating under now w~_=~=_ very wise.
A roll call vote was taken on passing Ordinance 67-5 from ]mt
to 2nd reading. Second reading to be held at the regular meeting
of March 6th.

The City Clerk submitted application of the Leroy Parker Post
288 Auxiliamy for pemmit to solici~ thru sale of poppies on
Feb. 17 & t8th. Mr. Su~mnems moved that the permit be granted
and all fees be waived. Motion seconded by Fm. Collins and
unanimously carried.
Mr. Fruda read Resolution 67-E adopting the assessment roll for
the demolition of certain pmOperties in accordance with
Resolution 65-DD.
Mr. Michael moved that Resolution 67-E be adopted.
